“Good idea,” I spoke. “But you five handle it. She’s your mom.”

“Really, cousin?” Sam said. “She’s been a mother to you since the day you were born.”

“True.” I sighed.

“Honestly, I don’t think all of us should bombard Curtis,” Christian chimed in. “I’m sure he’s devastated, and he doesn’t need the nine of us showing up at his place. Five would be better.”

“Christian does have a point. Actually, maybe just a couple of us should go,” Shaun said.

“We’ll write our names down on a piece of paper, fold them up, and throw three of them in the fire. The two that are left will be the ones to talk to Curtis,” Sam said.

“No need. I’m going, and Sebastian is coming with me,” Simon said.

“Me? Why me?” Sebastian asked.

“Because I said.”

“We don’t even know where he’s living,” Sebastian spoke.

“Grace and I will find out. We’ll go tomorrow.”

“Shit, Simon.” Sebastian sighed as he shook his head. “I’m busy. The brewery is opening in two weeks. I have shit to do.”

“You can take a couple of hours out of your busy schedule to find out the truth about our mother.”

“Stefan, we need to put the kids to bed,” Alex shouted from my house.

“That’s my queue. I’ll see you guys tomorrow. Good luck, bros.” Stefan laughed as he grabbed his guitar and walked away.

“It looks like the girls are finished,” I said. “I’m heading back to the house. Keep me updated.”

When I stepped through the sliding door, Sofia and Ella were leaving.

“Goodnight, Uncle Jackson,” Ella sleepily said.

I reached down and picked her up. “I’ll carry you home.” She laid her head on my shoulder.

“I got her.” Nathan came up from behind.

“Goodnight, my little niece.” I kissed her head before handing her over to my brother.

“Goodnight, Aunt Barb,” Nathan spoke.

“Goodnight, Nathan. I should go and leave you two alone. You have a lot of wedding planning to do in a short period of time.”

“What’s really going on, Aunt Barb?” I asked.

“Nothing, Jackson. When two people are unhappy, they part ways. I know you and the boys are upset, but it’s my life, and I will do what I want. I don’t need to explain anything to anyone, especially my sons. I’m happy, and that’s all that matters.” She picked up her purse and placed it on her shoulder.

“You deserve to be happy.” I walked over and kissed her cheek. “Be careful driving home.”

“Goodnight, Aunt Barb.” Georgia walked over and hugged her.

“Goodnight, darling. I’ll talk to both of you soon.”

I sighed as she walked out the front door.

“Can you believe she and Curtis are getting divorced?” I asked Georgia.
