“I love you too. See you later.”

After I saw my patient, I went into the kitchen area to grab a yogurt from the refrigerator. When I walked in, I saw Conner making a cup of coffee.

“Georgia sunshine.” He grinned.

“Dr. Kind.” I smiled. “Where have you been? I’ve barely seen you all day.”

“I’ve had back-to-back patients all day, and you know how June gets if I get behind. Have you talked to Jackson?”

“I have.”

“And? How did Ella do?”

“Jackson said she was amazing and loved it.” A smile crossed my lips.

“I knew it! But I wouldn’t expect anything less from her. She is a Kind, after all.”

“She definitely is.”

“Hey, you two.” Nathan walked in.

“Hey, bro. We heard that Ella did well in Jackson’s surgery.”

“She did great. I’m so proud of her. She wouldn’t stop talking about it on the drive home.”

“I bet.” I smiled.

“She asked Christian when she could sit in on one of his surgeries.”

“What the hell? What about us? Doesn’t she care about what we do?” Conner’s brows furrowed.

“She does. But right now, she’s obsessed with the brain and the heart. Don’t worry, brother.” He placed his hand on his shoulder. “She’ll want to watch you in due time.”

“She better.”

Iarrived home at five-thirty and quickly changed my clothes before Gwen was to arrive. As I walked down the stairs, the front door opened, and Jackson stepped inside.

“Yay! You’re home.” I grinned as I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his lips.

“My last surgery didn’t go as long as I thought it would. I’m going to run upstairs and change before the cake lady arrives.”

“Her name is Gwen.” I slapped his taut ass as he headed up the stairs.

“I like ‘cake lady’ better.” He winked with a smile.

“Oh, by the way. Jenni gave me the number of her flower guy, and we’re meeting him tomorrow night.” I shouted up the stairs.

“Okay, babe.”

When Gwen arrived, Jackson and I sat at the kitchen table and tasted the different samples of cakes she brought.

“Oh my, God. Is this key lime?” Jackson said.

“Key lime and coconut. It’s one of my unique flavors.”

“Georgia.” He stared at me. “This. This is it.” He took another bite.
