“There’s a tumor in his parietal lobe. I’m going to remove it tomorrow morning if he agrees.”

“Poor guy. Thank God we were there tonight,” Georgia said. “Wait a second. Tomorrow is Saturday. You don’t do surgeries on Saturdays.”

“Do you want him to do our wedding flowers?” I smirked.

“Well, yes.”

“Then the tumor is coming out tomorrow.” I kissed her forehead. “I’m heading up to his room. Are you done down here?”

“Yeah. I’ll go up with you, and then we can go home.” She hooked her arm around me.

CHAPTER17

Jackson

After we arrived home, Georgia went upstairs to take a bath. I grabbed a beer from the fridge and saw my brothers and cousins sitting outside around the bonfire.

“There he is.” Sam smiled as he held up his beer bottle.

“Hey, guys. I’m surprised you’re all still out here.” I sat down next to Christian.

“We won’t be for long. We have to get up early to hit the waves in the morning,” Simon spoke.

“About that. I won’t be joining you guys in the morning,” I said.

“Why?” Shaun furrowed his brows.

“I have a craniotomy in the morning.”

“On a Saturday?” Simon asked.

“Yeah.” I brought the bottle to my lips.

“That sucks,” Stefan said. “We’ll just all have to go again on Sunday morning.” He grinned.

“Has anyone talked to Mom lately?” Simon asked.

“No,” Stefan, Sam, Sebastian, and Shaun all spoke.

“Why?” Sam asked.

“You don’t think it’s odd that she hasn’t been around to see the kids? Or at least tried to interfere in one of our lives?”

“Her new man must be keeping her busy.” Conner grinned.

“Yeah. He can keep her really busy as far as I’m concerned.”

“What is with you, bro?” Sam asked.

“You want to know what’s with me? I’m pissed, Sam. I’m pissed at her for doing what she did to Curtis. He didn’t deserve that. Just like Celeste didn’t deserve what Dad did to her and all our other step mommies.”

“There are three sides to every story,” Shaun spoke.

“What?” Simon’s brows furrowed. “You mean there’s two sides to every story.”

“No. There are three sides: hers, his, and the truth.”

“I’m not sure we’ll ever know the truth,” Stefan said. “By the way, Simon. Can I borrow your gun?”
