“I’m fine.” He put his hand up.

“Have you been falling a lot?” I asked.

“Yes. He has,” Aunt Barb said. “This is why we need your help, Jackson!”

“Okay. I want you to take him to the ER at Cedars right now. I’ll call over there, let them know you’re on your way, and I’ll meet you. We’re getting that MRI today. Help him to the bathroom, and I’ll go grab a wheelchair.”

After I helped Ian into Aunt Barb’s car, I climbed into mine and called Georgia.

“I hope you’re on your way home,” she answered.

“I’m sorry, babe. I’m heading to the hospital. My patient needs an MRI stat.”

“Jackson, the hospital can handle the MRI. You don’t need to be there. Just tell them to call you with the results. We have an appointment with the bridal registry lady.”

“Georgia, I need you to listen to me and to what I’m about to tell you. You cannot breathe a word to anyone else about this.”

“You’re scaring me, Jackson, and you know I won’t.”

“The man Aunt Barb brought to me is—” I paused.

“Is who?”

“My Uncle Ian. My father and Henry’s brother.”

“What? I thought your father and Henry were the only siblings.”

“So did I. You have no idea what I’m going through right now. I’m in total shock. He’s very sick, and he needs my help. He’s a Kind, and he’s my family.”

“Okay. I’ll call and cancel our appointment for today. How is there another brother, and you never knew about him?”

“I don’t know, but I’m going to find out. I have to go, babe. I just pulled into the hospital. I’ll call you later. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

CHAPTER21

Jackson

As soon as Ian was taken to one of the ER rooms, I lightly grabbed hold of Aunt Barb’s arm before she could go in with him.

“What the hell is going on? We were told it was only my father and Uncle Henry our entire lives.”

“And I will tell you as soon as I can. Right now is not the time to discuss this. I will tell you he’s two years younger than your father.”

“Is he the man you went on the cruise with?” I narrowed my eye at her.

“Yes. Now, I’m going in there to be with him.” She shot me a look and went inside the room.

I placed my hand on my forehead because I couldn’t believe what was happening.

“Dr. Kind?”

“Yes, Anna?”

“What do you want me to do for him?” she asked.

“Start an IV, and I want routine labs drawn. He needs an MRI with contrast, so call and get him in as soon as possible.
