“I’ll have Rose deliver it to you. How is a chicken dish, potato, asparagus, and rolls?”

“Sounds great. Thanks, Sebastian. I owe you.”

“You’re welcome, cousin.”

“Sebastian is having Rose deliver dinner tomorrow.” I softly stroked her shoulder.

“Good. Can you please make sure he sends the cherry butter?”

“Babe, he knows that’s a family favorite. He’ll send it.”

“Make sure.” She reached over, grabbed my phone, and handed it to me.

“Sorry. Georgia wants to make sure you send the cherry butter.”

“I value my life too much to forget something like that, lol.”

“Thanks again.”

“Cherry butter is confirmed,” I said as I pressed my lips against the top of her head. “I do believe a proper thank you is in order. Georgia?” My grip tightened around her, and a smile crossed my lips, for she was sound asleep. Reaching over, I turned off the lamp and closed my eyes.

“It was six-thirty on the dot when the doorbell rang.

“Hey, Jamieson.”

“Hi, Jackson.” We bro hugged. “I brought a bottle of wine.” He handed me the brown bag.

“You didn’t have to do that. Thank you. Come on in.”

“Wow. Great home you have here.” He grinned.

“Dr. Finn,” Georgia spoke as she walked down the stairs.

“Dr. Georgia Scott.” He grabbed her hand and kissed her cheek. “You look as beautiful as ever. How are you?”

“Thank you. I’m great. Sorry, babe. The hospital just paged me. One of my patients was just brought into the ER. I have to go.”

“Okay.” I kissed her lips. “Be careful driving.”

She grabbed her purse and walked out the door.

“It never ends with our jobs, does it?” Jamieson chuckled.

“No. It doesn’t. Dinner is ready. Have a seat at the table, and I’ll pour the wine.”

“So, what is this about?” he asked as I grabbed two wine glasses.

“I have an adult male patient with an inoperable glioma in his brainstem.”

“Really?” His brows furrowed. “If it’s inoperable, what’s the problem?”

I set our glasses of wine and dinner on the table.

“He’s my long-lost uncle. It’s a long story, Jamison. Anyway, he’s family, and I must exhaust every possible way before deciding not to operate. That’s why I asked you to meet me. I need your expertise.”

“Okay. I’ll take a look at the scans after we eat,” he said.
