TWO MONTHS LATER

Georgia

“Oh my gosh, this is so adorable.” I grinned as I held up the little blue sleeper with the white bears on it.

“I can’t believe this little guy will wear that soon.” Sofia smiled as she placed her hand on her belly.

Yesterday was her baby shower, and today Nathan and his brothers were upstairs building the crib.

“You know, for what the damn thing costs, it should fucking come built already,” Nathan scowled as he walked down the stairs and grabbed his phone.

“Babe, who are you calling?” Sofia asked.

“Stefan. He’s an expert at building cribs.”

I laughed. “Four damn surgeons up there, and not one of them can build a simple little crib?”

“There’s a million parts, Georgia, and the instructions are stupid.”

Christian, Conner, and Jackson walked down, and Nathan handed them a beer.

“Stefan isn’t home but said he’ll be over as soon as he gets back,” he said to them.

“Jackson, really?” I cocked my head at him.

“Babe, it’s like a foreign language, and the pictures don’t even match the actual crib.” He brought the bottle to his lips. “And it’s not like it needs to be done this second. Isn’t a baby supposed to be in a bassinet or something for a while first?”

“Yeah, Sofia. We have that beautiful bassinet we’re using. Why does the crib have to be done today?”

“Because I want the nursery complete, Nathan.” She narrowed her eye at him.

“Come on. Let’s take some of these clothes upstairs, get them in the closet, and put the sleepers in the dresser drawers,” I said.

When we walked into the nursery, we saw Ella building the crib.

“What are you doing? You’re going to hurt yourself,” Sofia said.

“Someone capable has to do it. They’re useless.” She rolled her eyes, and I snickered. “It’s easy. I don’t know what their problem is. Aunt Georgia, can you hold this for me?”

“Sure, sweetheart.” I looked at Sofia as the corners of my mouth curved upward.

I held the heavier pieces for her, and the entire crib was built within fifteen minutes.

“Can you call Dad up here?” she asked Sofia. “He just needs to make sure the bolts are really tight.”

“With pleasure, kiddo.” Sofia grinned. “Can you four grab all the packs of diapers and bring them up?” She shouted down the stairs.

Sofia, Ella, and I stood in front of the crib with our hands on our hips and faced the door.

“Where do you—” Nathan stopped dead in the doorway, and Conner ran into him.

“What the hell, bro?”

“Wow. I feel like a complete idiot,” Christian said.

“Who built that?” Nathan asked.

“I did, Dad, and frankly, I’m disappointed in all four of you.” She cocked her head. “You need to make sure everything is nice and tight. I’m not that strong yet. I’m going over to Lily’s now.” She started to walk out of the room.
