“Don’t you dare tell anyone about this, Ella!” Nathan shouted.

“Oh, you know I will, Dad,” she shouted.

“Fuck.” Conner shook his head. “Do you know how embarrassing this is? We’re going to be the laughingstock of the family.”

“You better text Stefan and tell him we don’t need his help anymore,” Jackson said.

“Good idea.” Nathan pulled out his phone.

“I’ll make sure the crib is nice and tight. After all, that is my specialty.” Conner grinned.

“So, what’s this I hear about a seven-year-old girl putting together a crib that four fucking brilliant surgeons couldn’t do?” Simon laughed as he stepped into the room.

“Shut up.” Nathan glared at him.

“How did you hear about it so fast?” Christian asked him.

“I was over at Alex’s when Ella ran in and told us.” He laughed.

“Oh, my God!” Sofia grabbed my arm. “I either just totally peed my pants, or my water broke.”

“What?” Nathan ran to her. “You’re not due for another three weeks!”

“Okay. Let’s get you to your bedroom. Are you having any contractions?” I asked Sofia.

“No. Nothing.” She lay down on her bed.

Nathan followed us in, shut the bedroom door, and grabbed Sofia’s hand.

“I’m going to take a quick look. Nathan, do you have latex gloves around?”

“Yeah. I’ll go grab a pair.”

When he returned, I put them on, pushed Sofia’s dress over her knees, pulled down her soaked panties, and did a quick exam.

“Yep. Your water broke, and you’re dilated to two centimeters.” I smiled. “I’ll call the hospital and tell them you’re on your way. Nathan, grab her hospital bag.” I opened the bedroom door and saw the boys standing there. “Conner, send out a family alert that Sofia is in labor. Christian, call Aunt Barb. Jackson, go over to Stefan’s and grab Ella. Simon, can we have a police escort?”

“You bet.” He smiled.

“Let’s go have a baby!” A grin crossed my face.

While Nathan went to get Sofia’s bag, she grabbed my arm as I went to help her up.

“I’m not ready yet.” I could see the panic across her face. “There’s so much more to do. I can’t have this baby yet.”

“I’m afraid babies don’t care. He’s ready and coming whether you’re ready or not.” I smiled.

We arrived at the hospital and took the elevator up to the labor and delivery unit.

“Hi, Dr. Scott. Is this Sofia Finnegan?”

“Yes. Her water broke, and she’s dilated to two centimeters. Get her hooked up to an IV and to the fetal monitor.”

“I can’t believe my brother is coming.” Ella smiled with excitement.

A couple of hours had passed, and suddenly, Sofia let out a scream. “Holy Shit.” She grabbed her belly.

“And it starts.” I smiled as I looked at the fetal monitor.
