I put the photograph back into the envelope and take it to the main room. I set it on the table and sit next to Blakely. She curls into me, and King Madden readjusts himself on her lap.

Colton stays a few hours. They talk about a lot of work stuff that is out of my element, but I'm okay with it. My pet has a happy glow on her face, and that brings me peace.

Colton finally leaves, and I walk him to the door.

Blakely announces, "I need to tell you something."

My stomach flips.Maybe she does know she's pregnant and hid it from me?

"Sit," she says, patting the cushion next to her.

I obey, and she turns to me.

Minutes pass, creating tension, making my chest tighten. I finally ask, "What's going on, pet?"

She takes a deep breath, her eyes turn glassy, and she announces, "I vow to always accept all of you, your faults and all."

I freeze, my pulse skyrocketing. It's all I've wanted to hear since she discovered what I did to her.

She adds, "And I love you. I want you to know how much I love you." A tear rolls down her cheek.

I reach for it, swiping it off her skin, then rise. I go to the table and pick up the envelope. I hold it out to her.

"What is that?" Blakely asks.

"Something the doctor gave me," I answer. My butterflies turn frantic. I sit down and order, "Open it."

She scrunches her face. "Is something wrong?"

I shake my head, trying to contain my smile. "No, pet. Nothing is wrong."

She hesitates, then opens the envelope. She pulls out the paper and freezes. Her eyes widen, and she turns her calm chaos on me.

My heart pounds harder. She made it clear the other day that she wasn't ready for babies. We didn't plan this, but I hope she's as excited as I am.

She opens her mouth, then snaps it shut. She glances back at the photo and then locks eyes with me. She asks, "Is this a baby?"

I pick up her hand and kiss it. "Yes."

Her bottom lip quivers. Her eyes water as she questions, "Our baby?"

I nod, softly answering, "Yes."

She stares at it, then traces the outline of its body, asking, "How…?" She jerks her head up, meeting my eye. "I didn't lie, Riggs. I took tests. Several. How is this possible?"

I scoot closer to her, reassuring, "The doctor said some women don't register they're pregnant with at-home tests until later in their pregnancy. He did an ultrasound while you were still sleeping."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want to overwhelm you. There was a lot for you to process yesterday, and you were still foggy," I admit.

Anxiety explodes on her expression. She puts her hand on her belly, stating, "The drugs...did they...?" Her face falls.

I slide my hand on her cheek. "No, pet. The doctor assured me everything was fine with you and the baby. He ran several tests. We have an appointment with your gynecologist on Monday too."

A tiny bit of relief appears in her expression but not enough.

I tug her into me. "Everything is fine."
