She tilts her head. "You're sure?"
"Yes. And I want you to know something."
She arches her eyebrows.
I take a deep breath, repledging, "I vow to prove you wrong and work on my faults. Not just for you but for our family."
A full stream of tears falls down her face. "You already have."
"I love you more than anything. And I'm going to do better," I promise, then tug her into me.
She nods, embraces me tight, then retreats. She stares at the photo for a while, then asks, "Is it a boy or a girl?"
I confess, "I don't know. I wanted to wait until you were awake."
She studies it longer, then turns toward me with a huge smile. "So we're having a baby?"
Excitement flares within me. I almost feel giddy. "Yes. It looks like we are."
She sets King Madden next to her and straddles me. She slides her arms over my shoulders and her hands through my hair. "Do you know what this means?"
I arch my eyebrows. "No. What?"
Her lips twitch. "You're going to get cock blocked a lot more."
Amused, I jerk my head back. "Why would you think that?"
She softly laughs. "If you think King Madden is hard to deal with, just wait until the baby comes."
"Babies, you mean," I tease.
She bites her lip, arching her eyebrow.
I tug her closer and firmly state, "I'm not joking, pet."
She smiles, her calm chaos lighting me up just like the first day I noticed her. She bats her eyelashes and suggests, "Then maybe we should practice some more."

Seven Years Later
"Mommy!" Christie shrieks, flying across the living room with King Madden on her heels.
I crouch down, pulling her into me for a hug. King Madden barks, wagging his tail, and I pet him, laughing. "I take it you missed me."
Her eyes widen into a serious expression. She replies, "I did, Mommy!"
I hug her again, stating, "Well, I missed you more!"
King Madden barks again.
"Shh! You aren't supposed to bark," Christie scolds.
I kiss her on the head and pick up King Madden so his face is in front of mine, asking, "Were you a good boy too?"
He tilts his head and barks.
