Why am I holding out hope?

Noah and Riggs get inside, but I don't speak, and neither do they. The drive to the arena feels like it takes forever. I keep my focus on the window, but a blanket of white snow is all I can see.

The others stay silent, doing nothing to cut the tension. The entire way, I try to convince myself that it's best to let Riggs go. I try to figure out how, but it's impossible. I know I need to, but I still don't know how.

Riggs

Twenty-five-year-old Colton Linwood, has everything that makes pop stars famous. His tall frame is slightly muscular but not too over the top. His thick, dark hair has a tiny wave, with locks curling on the sides close to his blue eyes. He's constantly pushing them back, but they always return. The white T-shirt he wears stretches in perfection across his chest, as do his designer jeans over his thighs. He's talking quietly to a few sound techs.

Blakely freezes, staring at him.

He spins and pins his gaze on her, his face lighting up. He gushes, "Well, if it isn't Blakely Fox in the flesh!"

His enthusiasm for my pet puts me on high alert. It doesn't help when he leaps across the room and gives her a hug so big that her feet come off the ground.

She laughs, and he puts her down and stares at her. She says, "Thanks for the warm welcome. It's nice to meet you."

"I'm a huge fan. In fact, I'm totally fangirling," he claims.

A flush fills her cheeks. "Really?"

He belts out a line to her number one song, "Invisibly Broken.""If you loved me, you'd see what you're doing to me."

Blakely gapes at him. "You aren't joking?"

He scoffs. "Hell no! You've got talent, girl!"

"Thank you! That's... That's huge coming from you. I'm a big fan of your music as well," she claims.

His grin grows. He leans closer to her, and I clench my fists. He suggests, "Enough that you want to mix it up and do one of your songs and one of my songs together tonight?"

She opens her mouth, then catches herself. "Seriously?"

He chuckles, then his expression turns serious. He holds his hand in the air, stating, "Scout's honor."

She nods. "Yes! Of course! That would be incredible!"

"Awesome. We've got a lot of work to do, then," he declares, then turns and says, "Noah. Good to see you. And you must be the famous entrepreneur husband?"

My stomach flips. I'm not a moron. I realize this will be huge exposure for Blakely, but the instant connection they seem to have made puts me on edge. I hold out my hand and firmly state, "Yes. I am. Riggs Madden."

He takes my hand, and I squeeze it firmer than normal. He winces, then looks back at Blakely. "Seems like your hubby doesn't understand some things."

I don't lighten my grip. I snap, "Yeah? What's that?"

He demands, "Don't break my hand. I play the guitar. Time to release me."

I wait another moment, and Blakely orders, "Riggs!"

I unclasp my hand and stare him down.

Amusement fills his features. He puts his hand on my back and invades my personal space. He licks his lips, and his eyes drift down my body, then relock on mine. His lips twitch as he declares, "Nothing to be jealous over, Daddy. You're more my type than your wife is. I only admire her musical talents." He glances behind him. "Sorry, doll. But your hubby is pretty sexy with his older-man vibes. I see why you snatched him up."

Blakely puts her hand over her mouth, stifling a laugh.

I know more about Colton than I let on. He's a regular at Club Indulgence, but he frequents area three, which is where anything goes. I assume he's bi-sexual, based on rumors within the club and what facts are public knowledge. So I question, "Aren't you dating Sarah Stenmore?"
