"Never heard of him."

Benny shrugs. "So what? You know me, and I'm telling you, he's someone we can trust."

I stare at the door and try to figure out other options but nothing comes to my mind. I finally assert, "Then tell me about him."

"He's former military and Interpol. He's the best of the best. A few years ago, he parted ways with Interpol and returned stateside. His team members are all highly skilled and former military," Benny claims.

It sounds good, but I'm not trusting anyone until I meet them. My gut usually tells me everything. I ask, "Where is he?"

"Follow me," Benny replies and leads me to the back of the arena.

A well-built man with a shaved head gives orders to several other men. They all look at him respectfully, and it's clear he's in charge.

Benny introduces us. "Riggs Madden, Kalim Voght."

He tears his dark gaze off his men and pins it on me. He orders, "We'll finish this conversation later." He holds his hand out toward me.

I shake it, and his grip is as firm as mine, which I respect. He's a few inches taller than me, and everything about him gives me the impression he doesn't take anything lightly. It's another plus, in my opinion. I offer, "Nice to meet you."

He gets right to the point. "You too. I hear you have a few issues?"

"So I'm told. And my wife's going to be on that stage, so we need to eliminate them," I declare.

He nods. "Benny's filled me in. If we beef up security at the door and in front of the dressing rooms, it should take care of any breaches. I can also add a few monitoring devices."

My ears perk up. "How? Benny said the wireless signal is bad."

Kalim's eyes flicker with light. His lips twitch. "I have equipment that will work anywhere."

I arch my eyebrows. "Yeah? Where from?"

"That's classified," he replies and winks. He pulls a handful of devices, the size and shape of buttons, out of his pocket. "There's no problem with these. I've already tested them. We'll monitor the area and work together. And I can assure you my guys are equipped to handle anything that could occur."

Something about his confidence, demeanor, and ability to solve the issues Benny and I couldn't, calm me. My gut says to trust him, so I nod. "Then it's settled."

His eyes turn to slits. He adds, "There's only one thing."

My chest tightens. "What's that?"

He glances at Benny and then locks eyes with me. "I'm in charge. Both teams follow my lead at all times."

Benny stiffens next to me. I assess the situation and decide Kalim isn't one to back down. I turn to Benny. "Follow Kalim's orders."

Benny clenches his jaw, unhappy.

I don't care about his feelings or ego. Whatever it takes to keep my pet safe, I'm doing. To ensure he's on board, I ask, "You clear?"

He grinds his molars, then answers, "Yeah, Riggs. I'm clear."

"Good." I refocus on Kalim. "You take the lead, but if anything happens to my wife, it's your head on the platter." I leave before he can respond, feeling better about the situation but still not happy there even was one. I glance at Noah, vowing that one of these days, I'm taking him down.

He's put my wife's security at risk.

There are consequences and he's going to pay.

Blakely appears on stage with Colton, and they begin rehearsing one of his songs with the dancers.

The ache in my chest grows. It's been too long since I've had her. The need to see her kneel, waiting for my command, and listen to her begging me to let her come spirals within me.
