"You don't mean—"

"This is my night! Not yours! Mine! Since you can't control yourself, that's my final decision. Do you understand me?" she interjects, her blues blazing in a sea of turbulent chaos.

I lower my voice, attempting to sound calm, but it comes out harsh. I repeat, "I need to speak with you."

She shakes her head and blinks hard. "No. I'm not going to listen to whatever you want to say to try and justify what you just did."

Bile crawls up my esophagus. I swallow it down and state, "You have security issues I need to take care of."

She locks eyes with Kalim. "Can you be my bodyguard for the evening?"

"That's—" I start.

"Don't, Riggs! It's clear you trust him since he's in charge," she states.

I widen my eyes.

She laughs. "What? You didn't think I noticed that Kalim took the lead and Benny stepped back?"

I stay quiet, not sure how to respond. But I am shocked she noticed, even though I shouldn't be. She's smart and has always observed things that surprise me.

Noah cockily states, "Guess this situation is handled. Are you ready to go?"

She spins and crosses her arms. "Noah, you aren't invited either."

He jerks his head backward. "Don't be silly."

Her voice turns sterner. "Don't talk to me like I'm beneath you. And stop doing things to rile Riggs up."

"I'm not—"

"Just stop!" she commands, putting her hand in the air. "You're constantly doing things to get under his skin. And let me make it known to everyone in the room. I am not attracted to you now, nor will I ever be. Is that crystal clear?"

Her statement is a sunny ray of light beaming through the dark. Noah flinches, a hint of red fills his cheeks, and he stares at her.

I demand, "Well? Answer her."

Blakely shoots darts at me with her glare. "You can't help yourself, can you?"

Fuck! Why did I say that?

Get control of this situation.

She's making me do stupid things by staying away from me for so long.

"Noah? Do you understand?" she questions.

"Yes," he finally mutters.

She stares him down a moment, then adds, "I don't want to have this discussion again." She spins back to Kalim. "Can you please be my bodyguard this evening so my husband doesn't worry?"

Kalim nods. "If that's what you wish."

"It is." Blakely turns to Colton. "Are you ready?"

He smirks. "Yep. Dying for a drink, superstar."

She takes a deep breath. "I'll meet you in the car. I've changed my mind. I want to speak with my husband alone for a moment, so if you all could leave the room, I'd appreciate it. Kalim, I'll be out in a quick minute."
