He grunts. "Sure thing. But if I kiss and tell, you're going to as well. I'll be waiting to hear all about what techniques Daddy uses."

"Sorry," I chirp. I pretend to zip my lips, then toss the key away.

He moans. "Don't be a prude."

"Not a prude," I declare.

He chuckles. "Says you. Regardless, I'll still call you tomorrow."

I hug him, leave the room, and have Kalim escort me out of the mansion. I spend the ride home debating whether I should give in to my desire to have Riggs punish me.

The nagging voice in my head telling me I need to go home, get into bed, and not let Riggs touch me, never shuts up. It reminds me that we're not okay. There are too many issues in front of us that need to be resolved, and I wonder if they will be.

Yet the burning in my core only grows hotter. The need for me to forget our problems and allow Riggs and me to do what we do best screams just as loudly.

When the SUV pulls up to the hotel, I'm still trying to figure out what route to take. The closer I get to our suites, the more intense my needs become until I can no longer think and only feel.

Nothing will cool me down. I pace the hotel room, drinking scotch, and staring into the thick blanket of snow.

How did I get into this position? I'm in a Detroit hotel room while my wife is partying with strangers, including men who I'm confident all want her.

Men who will do anything to get her.

The thought that Noah isn't there only gives me a little relief. I know thousands of men in this world would do anything to get with my wife, and the more famous she gets, the worse it'll become.

Images of Blakely drunk, mobbed, or hit on by sleazy pieces of shit fill my mind. It all makes my stomach churn. No matter how much liquor I drink, nothing makes it disappear.

A gust of wind blows, turning the atmosphere whiter with such a thick blanket that I can't see through it. I mutter, "Why the hell did I agree to let her go out without me?"

A cold shiver runs through me, as bitter as the terrain outside. I add, "She fired me. How did I ever let that happen?"

I close my eyes, clueless about how I can change the situation that just seems to keep getting worse. I've lost all control. There's nothing between her and me anymore that I'm in charge of.

The defiant Blakely I knew before I even got with her is stronger than ever. This new woman she's become, I never anticipated. And I don't know how to handle it.

I down the rest of my scotch, walk over to the bar, and pour another two fingers. Then I sit on the oversized armchair and turn on the T.V., flipping through the channels.

My gut drops. The pounding of my pulse beats harder between my ears, making me dizzy. I lean forward in my chair.

A bald man and a brunette sit behind a news desk. A photo of Blakely leaving with Kalim, then one with Colton in the backseat of an SUV, appears. People are swarming the vehicle, which only increases my anxiety and anger.

The woman chirps, "Well, Chuck, it's an interesting night in Detroit. Megastar Colton Linwood left his concert in Detroit with newcomer Blakely Fox, and it looks like things will get hot, hot, hot."

The man chimes in, "There's more juice! Both Colton's girlfriend, actress Sarah Stenmore, and Blakely's much older billionaire husband, Riggs Madden, are nowhere to be seen."

"Much older," I mutter and grip my tumbler so tight I might break the crystal.

The woman leans closer to the bald guy and lowers her voice. "Should we take a bet on where this is going?"

He chuckles. "Well, last time I won, but then you claimed you did and never paid me."

"Well, let's just get this on record in front of everyone, then," she taunts.

He smiles at the camera. "I give it a month before full facts are revealed between these two people."
