“Damn straight.” I smile, knowing he understands what I’m after. “Not any different than our ancestors. Always about the cash for everything, no matter what race, what religion, or what nonsense you got going on. Just the world we live in.”

“Speaking of,” he starts, drawing close as one of his receptionists starts making their way to the door. “I lost something when we moved to my house. I had… a safe in my basement, and I’m missing something really important. You wouldn’t happen to have it, would you?”

“Nope. I didn’t even know you had a safe.”

Extended Epilogue

Cassio

Ten whole years of life going on.

Our 11th anniversary.

My little one is still sexy as ever, keeping her rail thin body even after the five kids we have running around the house. Carson is getting close to getting out of grade school and moving on to high school in a couple years, and the rest are not too far behind.

Hammond is downstairs entertaining the little ones; I can hear the TV blaring from our bedroom.

And yet, here I am, having the final cigar I would ever smoke on the balcony of my own house, overlooking the rest of the cul-de-sac. We succeeded.

We owned Boston.

Camilla was the push I needed to do something great.

“Daddy!” Her voice calls to me from a few rooms over. I snub the end of my cigar into the ashtray, knowing well that I won’t be coming back up to finish it anytime soon. Perhaps tonight. I step back into our bedroom, looking at her in the dark red tea dress that she’s planning to wear for the big dinner tonight. Even with everything that’s happened, tonight is the night that she’s officially meeting the family.

The whole extended family.Everyone.

“How do I look?” she asks, doing a small twirl in her dress. She’s as beautiful as the day I met her, even after bearing my kids and having worked hard at the dealership to provide us with more than a comfortable life. She’s worked her way up the ranks, going as far as to become the branch manager, both of us raking in quite a bit of income with our free time still intact, going on all kinds of trips, spending time with the kids—everything I’ve ever wanted in a family.

And it’s all thanks to her that I could be a part of something so special.

“You look great, my love,” I answer, my hands going around her waist and giving her a gentle peck on the lips. My hands wrap around her sides and offer her a gentle squeeze, feeling and loving the new weight that she’d put on. Nothing massive, but having a lot of kids is more than likely going to give someone some weight, and she’s no different. “Just like the day I first met you.”

“Please.” She waves a hand at me, basically brushing off my compliment. “You changed me into this.”

“Yeah, I might have… but that means I can just be a little rougher with you and you can take it, right?”

“Oh, don’t even start…”

“You really like the fact that I can go as hard and as fast as I want?”

“C’mon. Do we really have to talk about this? Why don’t we just… demonstrate?”

“We have dinner to go to. Besides, I do happen to find it rather sexy that you’re the one who gave birth to all my children, after all, and still want to have unprotected sex.”

“Daddy!” she shouts, slapping my forearm playfully. “Don’t say that out loud. My dad is downstairs.” She pouts, putting her hands at her sides before making a few final adjustments to her dress. I laugh and help her, and soon she is off, headed downstairs to meet with her father, moments before we leave for the night.

Just one more.

It calls to me. It had to have. Somehow, some way, something is bringing me back to it.

I dig out the box from underneath the bed, wedged between all of the luggage containers we have for our family vacations. It’s old and decrepit, just few more uses and it’s going to end up in the trash.

I knew full well what her dad was doing. This is… something incredibly real.

Something only thebestdeserve, not some junkie.
