“I was here first, Tallest Twin Alive,” Daphne spews at her brother.

Dylan rubs the top of her head, mussing her hair. “You’re just mad that you’re not going to be any taller. Even the dog is taller than you.”

“Who’s the licensed driver in the car while Greg is driving?” I ask him, grabbing my robe and pushing myself out of bed and heading into the bathroom. Do my children care?

No. No they don’t. Daphne and Dylan follow me as I use the bathroom, and they continue to pelt me with requests at an ungodly hour.

“The sun isn’t up, and I don’t have coffee. Where’s Dad?”

“Garage,” they both answer in unison.

“Derek?” I ask.

“Garage,” they both answer again.

“Mom, what about Julia? It’s Friday, there’s no school on Monday, and no mannequins in the house. Please?”

“I still don’t know how mannequins got into this.”

Daphne rolls her eyes and huffs. “The last time you were doing the bake sale, you were talking to Cody’s mom and said here goes Gwendolyn chasing that mannequin. How many does she need?”

Dylan bursts into laughter, and I slap myself on the forehead. “One, you shouldn’t eavesdrop on adult conversations. Two, I said, ‘Man again.’ And three, don’t repeat anything you hear me tell another adult to anyone else unless I tell you it’s okay.”

“Okay, but what about the sleepover?”

“That’s fine with me.” I sigh.

Daphne cheers and darts off to finish getting ready for school. Dylan is still standing there, lingering.

“My answer is no for Greg unless there’s a licensed driver in the car.”

“Boy! What did I tell you about bothering your mother at the ass crack of dawn before she’s had her coffee?”

My heart swoons at the sound of Declan’s voice booming through the house as he corrals our children.

“Sorry Dad, but Greg’s on his way-”

Declan doesn’t let him finish. “I already told youand Gregthat if there’s not a licensed driver in that car, you ain’t going. I don’t care if you guys are on the same team.”

“Dad, can you drive us then?”

I can hear the toughness in my husband’s voice melt. “Yeah, but we gotta drop Derek off first.”

“Thanks, Dad.” Dylan bolts from the room just as I turn on the shower, and Declan pokes his head into our bathroom.

“Good morning, babe.”

“Mornin’ Daddy,” I toss the greeting at him with the most seductive smile I can muster before I turn and see myself in the mirror. I groan, splashing water on my face.

“Aw, what’s that face for, Dens?” he asks, stepping inside and closing the door behind him.

I turn to him and let my arms flop out in front of me. “I’m at least 20 pounds heavier than when you met me. I look like I haven’t slept in 2 years, and I just don’t feel good about myself.”

He hooks his index finger at me, beckoning for me to come closer. “Little girl, don’t talk about my wife like that. I love all of this.”

He reaches around and palms my ass, grabbing two handfuls before grinding himself against me. “You feel what you do to me?”

I giggle before pushing him away. “You wake up horny, Declan.”
