“I’m going to go change out of these yoga clothes,” I say.

When Theo insisted I show him some poses, I changed into my leggings and a tank with a built-in bra since I didn’t want the T-shirt I’d been wearing riding up or falling down over my head when I was leaning over. That little guy doesn’t need to know what my bras look like even if his father does.

I’m a few steps away from where I was when Brady calls, “Wait.”

I briefly close my eyes but turn and put on a brave face. “Yeah?”

I know we need to have this conversation, I do, but I also know that everything will change afterward—for the worse or for the better, I’m not sure.

He stands from the couch and walks over to stand in front of me. “We need to talk about what happened last night.” His eyes search my face, which I can feel heating.

“Yeah, we probably should.” I want him to start so I know where his head is.

He winces and grips the back of his neck with one hand. “If I made you uncomfortable or if you feel like I took advantage of you in any way, I’m sor—”

I shake my head. “Brady, you didn’t take advantage of me.”

“But you’d been drinking.”

I rest a hand on his shoulder. “I wasn’t that drunk. I knew exactly what I was doing. I was just as into it as you.”

His muscle flexes under my palm and I drop my hand, suddenly aware of the heat from his skin beneath the thin cotton fabric of his shirt.

“Are you sure? Would you even tell me if you did feel pressured? I’m essentially your boss.” The hand at the back of his neck drops to his side and he looks at me with worried eyes.

“What we had started well before you were my boss. I would think it’s obvious from our night together that I’m attracted to you.”

Images of that night flash in front of my eyes and I think it must be the same for him too because his lids grow heavy.

“You’d tell me if I made you uncomfortable?” He arches an eyebrow.

“Absolutely. I really would.” I nod, and that seems to settle him because his shoulders relax.

We’re silent for a bit, then he says, “I suppose this is the part of the conversation where we have to figure out how we want to move forward. So, do you want what happened last night to happen again?”

I can’t say the words, so I simply nod once. It’s scary to admit, but at the same time, I no longer feel as though I have an anvil on my head, weighing me down, now that the truth is out there.

His nostrils flare. “So do I.” Brady looks over his shoulder at the entry to the room and then steps toward me, resting his hands on my hips. “I have all kinds of ideas about what else we can do. In fact, it’s all I could think about today.” He leans in and whispers in my ear, “I fumbled twice today just thinking about tasting your pussy again.”

His dirty words and the image of his head between my legs causes me to stop breathing for a beat. When I recover, I pull back and meet his gaze. “I like the way your mind works.”

He grins. “Good, because there’s a lot more.”

I swallow hard. “This has to stay between us though. No one can know, especially Theo.”

He nods. “We’re on the same page. I don’t want to confuse him.”

His comment stings because it makes it clear that whatever arrangement we’re negotiating here isn’t a relationship. But he brings up a good point and one that we should agree upon now.

“I don’t either, and I don’t want either of us to be confused.” His forehead creases as though he doesn’t know where I’m going with this. “This… thing between us isn’t serious. And it ends when I leave here. I want to make sure we’re on the same page about that.”

His gaze skirts over my face, looking for what, I can’t be sure, but he nods. “Okay.”

I don’t know if I expected or wanted him to argue with me, but his one-word answer leaves me disappointed even though I’m the one who brought it up.

“Now that we’ve sorted all that out, can I please kiss you?”

I glance behind him at the doorway. Since we’re free and clear, I nod.
