I frown. “Honestly, I can’t imagine that conversation. It wouldn’t be well received.”

“Well, I for one, am glad that you decided to become a nanny, otherwise I’d probably still be trying to hunt you down in random nightclubs.”

I chuckle, and without warning, he rolls himself over me so that I’m pinned underneath him. A yelp leaves me, but it turns into a moan as he drags his tongue from my collarbone up to my ear.

“I think you’d manage without me,” I say dryly because if this trip has made anything clear to me, it’s that Brady certainly has his pick of available women. It’s not like I didn’t know that before, but seeing it so blatantly thrown in front of me is another thing entirely.

“Bullshit.” He pulls back and looks down at me. “It wouldn’t be the same if it wasn’t you.”

Something passes between us, some emotion I don’t want to name or dwell on, so I wiggle underneath him and say in a cheeky voice, “Prove it.”

A grin transforms his face, and he arches a brow. “Is that a challenge?”

“Most definitely.”

Brady rises to the challenge, dragging his tongue down my body under the sheets until his face rests between my thighs, where he does, in fact, prove it. Twice.

“Can I go now?”

I look at Theo, who’s practically salivating to run out onto the field.

We’re at the training facility again. Brady asked if we wanted to stop by today during their practice, and Theo will take any opportunity to see his dad in action. So will I apparently.

The coach just blew the whistle and told them to take a break, and immediately Brady’s attention comes to the sidelines where I’m standing with Theo and Shayna. He takes off his helmet and gives me a small nod.

I tap Theo on the back. “Go ahead, buddy.”

He races out to his dad without a backward glance. Brady leans down and scoops him up.

“I think my ovaries just sighed,” Shayna says.

I chuckle. “Right? Their relationship is so sweet.” I watch them with a smile, and in my peripheral vision, I see Shayna turn to look at me.

“Mind if I ask how things are going with that situation?”

I turn to look at her. Every time I’ve seen her since our night out, either Brady or one of the other players has been around. We’ve texted a bit, but I haven’t wanted to put anything in writing, so I’ve been waiting until I had the opportunity to be alone with her. I’ve filled Amara in on what’s going on, but I’d love to get the perspective of someone who’s familiar with the team and has her own relationship with a professional football player—though that’s not what this is with Brady. Besides, there’s a good chance Brady has told Lee, and he’s told his fiancée anyway.

After a quick glance to make sure no one is around, I lean closer to her. “We’ve been messing around ever since the night I was out with you guys.”

Shayna’s eyes widen and she grins, clapping in a giddy schoolgirl motion.

I take her hands and pull them down before Brady happens to look over and notices. “You really didn’t know?”

She shakes her head. “Lee and I agreed not to discuss anything either you or Brady told us after we went out that night and I declared that we were friends.”

“Really?” I can’t help my smile.

“Of course. Girl code.” She holds up her hand like the Boy Scouts do.

I laugh.

“So does this mean you two are dating now or what?” She sounds so hopeful that I almost hate to crush her enthusiasm.

“Or what.” She frowns, and I say, “We agreed to keep it just between us and make it simple—we’re messing around and nothing more.”
