I groan. “It’s not that, Meli. I just—”

“I know, you have a lot on.” I nod, knowing she’s pissed but unable to soothe her. I don’t have the energy right now, and my mind is full of revenge plots. I get out the car, leaving the driver to help Meli out. I unlock the front door and input the code to deactivate the alarm. “There’s wine in the fridge. Help yourself. I just have to make a few phone calls and then I’ll take you home.”

She heads off to the kitchen, and I go to my office. I dial Leon’s number, but it rings out. So does his brother’s. I call Jolene. “You need help with those stress levels?” she purrs.

“Where are your brothers?”

“I’m not their keeper.”

“It’s important, Jolene.”

“Why don’t you meet me, and I’ll tell you.”

I sigh. “This isn’t a game. I need to speak to one of them now.”

“Is this regarding your little rundown estate?” she asks.

“What do you know about it?”

“Just what I heard.”

I inhale sharply. “Which is?” I hiss.

“That the E15 boys are moving in.” I disconnect the call. I don’t have time for her games.

I call Albert and tell him, “I spoke to Jolene. She didn’t give me any clue as to where her brothers are.”

“The names I’m getting off the street belong to brothers. They go by the surname Palmer.” Usually, we know all the gang members around the area, but it doesn’t ring any bells. “I thought we were done with all this,” he mumbles. The office door opens and Meli stands there in nothing but the red heels and diamond necklace. I suck in a breath, unable to take my eyes off her. She smiles, swirling red wine around her glass.

“Me too, Bert, but we’re bigger now, better. We took these kinds of idiots on when we were kids and we won. We’ll burn London before we give up what we’ve worked for.”

Meli saunters over, moving to my side of the desk and leaning against it. She places her glass to my lips, and I drink some of the wine. I trace circles over her stomach with my index finger. “Should we bring Mav in on this?” I ask.

Meli sniggers, nuzzling into my neck. “Definitely not,” she whispers.

“I don’t know. He runs some of that area too, plus, it borders his businesses. Who knows where else they’ll try and take. Maybe we should give him the heads-up.”

I close my eyes as Meli runs kisses along my jaw, unfastening my shirt buttons. “I’ll call a meeting tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow? Don’t you think it’s more urgent?”

Meli rubs my erection and traces her kisses down my chest and across my stomach, once again falling to her knees while she unfastens my belt. “You said yourself, this is just a heads-up. If I call him tonight, he’s gonna take it more seriously than he needs to.”

She releases my erection from my boxers and wraps her hands around it. “I guess. Rumours are spreading like wildfire, though. What if he hears it from someone else?”

I hiss when Meli sucks me into her mouth, letting my head fall back in pleasure as she pushes me to the back of her throat. “Fuck,” I whisper.

“It is almost midnight. You’re right, tomorrow first thing would be better. I spoke to Tommy. The doctor checked Ma over, and she’s all good.”

“I know, he texted me earlier,” I mutter, glancing down to watch Meli swallow me inch by inch. “She’s made of strong stuff.”

Albert laughs. “Battleaxe,” he jokes.

Meli moves faster, pushing me deeper into her throat each time. “I gotta go, Bert,” I croak, gripping a hand in her hair and forcing her to take more. She chokes and her eyes water . . . and it’s the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen.

“Did the date go well?” he asks.

I grin, even though he can’t see me. “Better than expected.” I disconnect, throwing my phone on the desk and fucking her mouth. When I’m about to come, I pull her away and lift her to stand. Turning her away from me, I bend her over my desk, exposing the wetness between her legs. I run my hand through her folds and spread the juices down her thighs. She fidgets, desperate to feel me there again. My mobile rings out, but before I can get to it, she cancels the call, sliding it out of reach.
