Meli frowns. “You two have meetings?”

I glare at Rosey, waiting to see how she’ll get out of this because no one should know the agreement we have. “No, Meli, I was trying to flirt, but thanks for ruining it.” She drains her glass and slams it on the bar. “Let’s go.” She grabs Meli’s shoes and practically shoves them into her stomach. Meli catches them, looking confused. I lift her from the bar and slowly slide her down my body, feeling every soft curve against my hard torso. Her eyes flutter up to meet mine, and I know she feels the spark flying back and forth between us by her sharp intake of breath.

“I’ll walk you both out and get my driver to drop you home.”

I slam my laptop closed and glance at the bright LED on the wall clock. Six a.m. The club’s been closed for two hours and I’m still here looking over the books. I stare at the spare desk across from me and sigh at the amount of paperwork stacked up there. I really need to hire someone to deal with that.

I stand and close the blinds. The sun is just rising, and I need to get some shut-eye before my day begins again. Dropping down on the couch, I close my eyes, and the first person I see is Meli. I smile to myself. Fuck, I’d probably sleep a hell of a lot more if I had someone like her waiting in my bed.

I’m woken when the office door slams open. I sit up, alarmed for a second until I get my bearings. My brother, Albert, stares at me. “Why are you sleeping in here?”

I squint as he opens the blinds and daylight streams in. “What time is it?”

“Eleven.”

“Shit. I have a meeting.” I get up and go to the built-in closet. After finding a fresh shirt and trousers, I head for the bathroom attached to my office and shower in record time. When I return to the office, Albert is entertaining Jolene Hall. She’s dressed in black, playing the part of a grieving wife well. She rises to her feet gracefully, and we shake hands. “Nice place you have here,” she remarks. We usually meet in bars that aren’t owned by me.

“Thanks.” I take a seat behind my desk, and she sits back down. “Any updates?”

“Yes. It’s not being investigated. The police believe he jumped. They found the videos and photographs on his iPad, and they think he couldn’t live with his dirty fucking secret.” She spits the words with anger.

“Best outcome for all.” I stand, indicating the meeting is over, but she hesitates.

“Actually, I might need your help again.”

“For?”

“A similar thing. I want rid of someone.”

“You know I need more details than that.”

She glances at Albert, showing she’s uncomfortable. I nod at him to leave, which he does. “I’ve been seeing this man.”

“No. I can’t possibly wipe somebody else out with a connection to you. How would it look?”

“No one knows about us. It wouldn’t lead back to me.”

“No. My answer is no.”

“I’ll double the money.”

I sigh heavily. “What exactly has he done?”

“Used me.”

I laugh. “If I wiped out every motherfucker who used a woman, the male population would deplete, including myself.”

“He used me to get information on my brothers. And now he has, he’s blackmailing me.”

I groan. “Have you ever thought of staying celibate? You have terrible taste in men.”

“My brothers can’t find out about this. And if this guy follows through on his threats, we’ll all be in the shit.”

“Jesus, Jolene, what the fuck does he have on you?”

“I told him about Jeremy. I didn’t mean to. I was just telling him we had the all-clear to go public, so he asked questions and it came out. He recorded me.”

I pinch the bridge of my nose. “I can’t keep that from your brothers.” I pull out my phone, and she dives at me, trying to grab it. “Fuck’s sake,” I growl, taking her wrists and pinning her to the desk. Albert hears the commotion and comes back. “Hold this bitch while I make a call,” I snap.
