“Yeah. She does,” Kas said, his voice carefully even.
I snickered at their posturing, snagging another piece of fruit. I was flying high on Rush’s energy shimmering through my blood, and even a bit of male jealousy wasn’t going to bring me down.
That job was left to a knock on the door.
Rush managed to get up first, unlocking the door and stepping aside to let Vento and Luca stride in. Luca halted at the door, his hands clenching as he smelled our blood - and probably the sex from the night before as well.
“Merden has scheduled another match. One hour from now,” Vento said, carefully avoiding looking too closely at any of us.
I sighed, tossing Kassian his pants. “She’s so fucking tweaky these days. Thanks for the heads up. We’ll meet you two in there.”
Vento nodded, but Luca looked annoyed at being dismissed. I shot him a guilty look and opened my mind speak.
What am I supposed to do, wolf? I miss you pounding into me with that huge, fat cock, too, but we have a contract to break first, I teased him boldly through our connection. His cheeks flushed bright, but he didn’t try to respond, shutting the door firmly after himself.
“Do you feel well?” Rush asked after a beat of silence.
“I feel fucking amazing,” I answered, crawling out of the bed and stretching. “I think that whole gobbelin blood thing was either solved by Acadian’s amazing... blood. Or it was all bullshitto begin with.” Maybe I’d ask Grand-mère the next time the mist visited.
“Just a sip, Special K. Be safe,” Cade said, offering his wrist to me anyway. I stalked toward him, crowding him against the wall and letting him press his skin to my fangs.
“You look good enough to eat,” I said, digging in and enjoying the way his eyes rolled back just a little. His other hand wrapped around my hip, grabbing a handful of ass like he always had, and I ground shamelessly against him.
“You’re my favorite kind of insatiable,” Cade drawled, his southern boy accent always stronger when he was turned on.
“This is going to take some getting used to. I’m going to get out of here and take a shower,” Kas grumbled, gathering his clothes, discarded armor, and weapons.
“Make it a cold one,” Cade said, smirking. I pulled my fangs from his wrist, narrowing my eyes at him.
“Play nice,” I said, licking the wound closed.
“You know me better than that, sweet thing,” he said, squeezing my ass hard enough to pinch before shoving me away lightly. I caught Rush’s interested gaze as I turned, and he gave me a knowing smile.
“I like you two together,” he said, handing me the rest of my clothing.
“I like us three together,” I sassed back, and something else flashed in the golden-blue depths of his eyes. A low growl vibrated from his chest as he shook his head at me.
“Get ready, before I decide we aren’t going anywhere today,” he threatened, pulling together his Saint Laurent glamor as I headed past him into the bathroom.
I liked his ideas for the day much better than Merden’s, but unfortunately, they would have to wait.
CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR
KANA
Less than an hour later, a very posh-looking Saint Laurent was escorting me from my rooms to the ballroom.
Cade had been left behind in the room, although it had taken quite a few dirty promises to get him to stay put. Even though he was obviously feeling much better, I felt like I just couldn’t risk Merden seeing him and getting any ideas.
“You’ll go back to him if it’s not my turn to fight?” I asked Rush again as we pushed our way into the packed crowd. He chuckled.
“I told you I would watch over him. But if it’s your match, love, I’m not fucking moving,” he insisted, weaving easily between the commoner vampires until we reached the competitor table at the front of the room.
Merden was holding court with a dozen or so of her nobles, and this time, Jillian seemed to have an invite. Darnell was seated at the competitor table watching Jillian flirt and preen, with an expression that clearly said he’d sleep soundly after ripping out her throat.
“I feel the same way,” I called to him, and he startled, glaring at me.
“Excuse me?” he asked, looking Rush up and down.
