“No, God, no,” I blurt out. “I mean, no.” His low, growly chuckle goes all through me.

“Good,” he finally says.

“Why is that good?” I ask.

“Do I need to spell it out for you, Stacee?”

“Yes. Please,” I say, desperate for him to say what I want him to.

“I want you. I know you want me. I heard you. If you think I’ve not taken myself in hand every day since we met, you’d be mistaken.”

“You want me?” I ask, closing my eyes. I sound like an embarrassed parrot.

“Is that not obvious?”

“Yes,” I finally admit. “I want you too.”

“Thank fuck,” he growls.

“But should we do this?” I ask. It’s wrong to sleep with your boss, isn’t it? Maybe he’s not exactly my boss, but close enough. He was in the news a lot last year for sleeping with a co-star, but he said it wasn’t true.

“Why the hell shouldn’t we do this?”

“It’s wrong.” Shit, just the thought of doing something wrong makes me wet. “It’s bad.” The thought of doing something bad makes me even wetter. “It’ll cause a scandal.” I don’t want to cause a scandal, do I? I take a deep breath. With Tyson, I do.

“I know, but it will be so good. I promise.”

“Tyson…”

“Yes, baby girl?” He had to go and call me that, didn’t he? That’s weakness stuff right there.

“This isn’t aWildest Dreamsthing is it?”

“What’s a wildest dreams thing?” he asks.

“You know the Taylor Swift song…”

“I’m going to stop you right there. I don’t know Taylor Swift songs,” he says, giving me a boyish grin.

“Pity. It’s a good one, but basically it’s about an actor having an affair with his co-star while on location, then promptly forgetting about her when he gets home.”

“That is not what this is, Stacee. I swear. I know there is something between us. I know you can feel it too. This is more than sex, more than how beautiful you are.”

“I can feel it.”

“Then what is it?” I move my hand to lace my fingers into his.

“I’m scared,” I admit.

“Of what?”

“This. Us. What if we don’t work out?”

“We’ll get to each other before anything happens. If we don’t suit, no harm done.”

“You’d wait for me?”

“I’d wait until the world dried up and blew away for you. Don’t you get that?”
