"Yeah," I said with a smile, "the dude is off his rocker."

"Oh, okay," Drako replied, showing no signs of suspicion or doubt.

"Hey, so what is this task you are supposed to be carrying out?" I asked, hoping to change the subject.

"I'm supposed to be looking for some man named Samuel," Drako said with a sigh, "Another one of Blaise's insane theories. It's nothing I was taking seriously. I'm not even sure this man is in town like Blaise seems to think he is."

"Who is he?" I pressed, curious as to how much Drako was willing to share.

"I'm not really sure. Just someone Blaise sees as a threat to the horde, but it seems like Blaise sees most people as a threat to the horde."

"What are you supposed to do when you find this man?" Scarlett asked.

Drako stayed quiet and looked down at his glass.

"He's supposed to kill him," I said to Scarlett, watching Drako's expression as I did.

He looked up at me and, for a second, gave me the impression that he wanted to ask for help. Maybe he wasn't as ruthless as the other members of his horde were. I looked back at Scarlett, wondering whether maybe she had been right in seeing something different in him.

"Is that true?" Scarlett asked, confused by the idea, "Are you going to kill this person?"

"That is what he wants me to do," Drako admitted, still avoiding her gaze, "I don't want to hurt anyone. I don't even know this person. Why would I hurt him?"

"I can't imagine Blaise would be too happy about that," I said, skeptical about his response, "How do you expect to get out of it?"

"I don't know. Honestly, I hadn't given it much thought. I wasn't expecting to ever find him. Do you think Samuel and Henry are the same people?"

I looked at Scarlett, who shrugged her shoulders. "That diner was full of guys in black suits."

Drako's eyes darted up toward Scarlett. "What diner?"

"It's about half an hour from here. I'm not even sure whether it was actually open for business. I just know there was at least a dozen men in black suits."

Scarlett's unwillingness to reveal the truth about Henry surprised me, but I was relieved to see that she was still being cautious about how much she was sharing with Drako. It would be foolish to trust a stranger and I was worried that she didn't understand that. That still didn't ease my discomfort over how much she might have shared with Henry. I wasn't sure which one posed more of a danger: the rival or the slayer.

Chapter Fourteen

Scarlett

The alcohol had helped to ease the tension and I was able to relax for the moment. Grayson's willingness to give Drako the benefit of the doubt made things a little easier.

As the evening went on and the drinks continued, the mood had shifted. There was suddenly a different kind of tension in the room. My head was spinning as I looked at the two gorgeous men in front of me. Grayson stepped forward and kissed my neck, sending chills through me. My whole body tingled, and I let out a soft moan. Grayson pulled away and smiled, “Hello beautiful.”Drako walked up next to Grayson and whispered into his ear, causing him to smile even more. He grabbed my hand and led me to a private place. The first thing I noticed when we entered was how small the room was compared to where we were standing before. Grayson put a finger on my lips, telling me not to speak. He leaned down and gave me a deep kiss, making me lose focus. When he stopped for air I asked, “Where are we going?”

Grayson just shrugged, “Just follow my lead.” We both took each other's hands and headed towards a door that led to a bedroom. It was dark so I could barely see what Grayson was doing. He turned around and pressed himself against me. His hands wandered under my dress and his fingers ran up and down my sides. I couldn’t help but moan again. After Grayson finished, he held onto my waist and whispered into my ear, “I have wanted you for so long."

He leaned back and gave me another kiss before pulling away. I felt dizzy all of a sudden and leaned against the wall to stay steady. My legs felt like jelly. Drako stepped forward and kissed me and I wrapped my arms tightly around his waist. He broke apart from me and whispered, “Are you okay?”

I nodded slowly, still feeling lightheaded, “Yeah, just...a little overwhelmed.”

"Do you want to stop?" he asked softly.

I shook my head, afraid to speak. My body ached fortheir touch. I couldn't get enough of it. They were so gentle with me, giving me everything I needed without question. Grayson slipped off his shoes whileDrako’s eyes never left mine as he began to undress.

He stripped off his shirt, showing me his perfect abs and chiseled chest. I looked over at Grayson who had also removed his shirt, revealing his equally perfect torso.

Grayson moved his hand behind my neck and pulled my face closer, kissing me deeply. They were so passionate about each other, holding nothing back.

They both took turns kissing and caressing me. Grayson's kisses always left me wanting more. It was intoxicating. Drako's kisses were softer yet still left me breathless.
