"Drako, why did you choose to help us? You put yourself in danger for people you don't even really know." I asked as I sat down beside him.

"Not people, Scarlett. For you. I chose to help you," he replied, staring me straight in the eyes.

"Why?"

"Because it is what I felt I had to do. I haven't felt like I belonged in Shadow Crest for a long time now. I always felt out of place. I don't feel that way when I'm with you."

I sat in silence for a moment, processing what he said. His answers seemed genuine.

"Do you trust me?" He asked, taking my hand.

I nodded my head. "Yes, Drako. You have never doubted me or what I was capable of. You helped me even when it meant putting yourself in danger. That means a lot to me."

"Good. I'm glad because I would never do anything to hurt you."

"I believe you."

I smiled at him. Drako leaned forward and kissed me gently.

"I love you, Scarlett." He whispered into my ear.

A blush appeared on my cheeks as he spoke, and I could feel myself blushing even harder.

"Oh gosh...I-" I started saying but stopped short.

There was something wrong with my brain. My heart sped up faster than I'd ever felt before. Everything about this made me uncomfortable and I couldn't shake off the feeling. It wasn't until Drako's lips came crashing back onto mine that I snapped out of it. Before I even realized what was happening, I found myself kissing him back with equal fervor. We fell backward onto the ground, me straddling him and pulling him closer to me. Our kiss went on and on and I felt sparks shoot through me every time our lips met. My mind went blank, completely forgetting the fact that we were in some rundown abandoned building.

Eventually, Drako broke the kiss, and I stared down into his beautiful eyes.

"Is everything ok?" He asked, looking concerned.

"Yeah, I think so." I managed to squeak out.

I slowly moved out from where we were both sitting and tried to collect my thoughts. So much was happening all at one time. It was hard to make sense of it all. Drako looked confused for a brief second and stood up as well.

"I should probably let you rest. You've done enough today..." I trailed off awkwardly, avoiding his gaze.

"Hey." He called softly, grabbing my arm lightly.

I turned around slowly, still refusing to look him in the eye. My eyes drifted downwards to where his hands were holding mine.

"Will you promise me something?"

I nodded my head hesitantly.

"Promise me you'll stay safe." He added, making my heart ache.

"Always."

We stayed like that for several seconds before Drakofinally let go. As soon as I pulled my hands away fromhis, he wrapped them tightly around himself as if he was freezing.

"Come here," I said, extending my arms.

Drako hesitantly walked over to me, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me close to his chest.

"I love you, Drako," I muttered.

"And I love you. So much." He responded, burying his face in my hair.
