Her smile slipped. He would grow bored of her. What did she have to offer? All she could do was talk about books. He would grow bored of that eventually, wouldn't he?

"What's wrong?" Mason looked at her, concerned.

She quickly shook her head, not wanting to think about it. So, she tightened her grip around his arm. "We should go to the British Museum. I bet it's full of history. We’ll want to get there before it gets busy."

They headed to the British Museum and started in the Hieroglyphs mainly because the museum was packed, and it seemed like a less busy area.

She stuck to him like glue, hating to be separated. She had no idea where she was going, but Mason seemed to know. He knew where to turn and what piece was more interesting than others.

"Did you ever think about learning to read these?" he asked, looking at her.

"I thought about it once," she said. She wasn't going to deny it. She thought it would be fun, and she had downtime sometimes in the library. "I didn't, though. I couldn't catch on."

He chuckled, clearly entertained.

She stretched and turned to see three women staring at them. At Mason, in particular, and her stomach flipped.

"Let's head to the mummies," she said, grabbing his hand. She was both jealous and insecure.

They headed down to the mummies, where the lights were a little dimmer. She liked it. It had Mason hold onto her, pulling her to his chest. They stopped at the wall, where he gave her a kiss on the forehead. She sank into him.

She could then hear the soft giggle of girls. She looked over his shoulder to see a group of girls watching them. She frowned.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing." She pulled him closer.

She'd noticed people watching them in the garden but didn't think of it. It was hard to get into there, and she figured people might be jealous. But being here and seeing the women looking at him from all directions only made it more valid.

Mason was out of her league. She'd already known this. She knew it from day one. She had been hoping to deny it. But how could she?

He was having fun now, but that would end, and this would all be a memory. He would grow tired of her. And even if he didn't, he'd never be able to settle down. He'd told her that already.

She'd already known this relationship wasn't going to last the minute he said those words. But she wanted to enjoy this trip. She wanted the good memories.

"You still there?" Mason spoke up, pulling her chin up.

She realized she had blanked out for a second. Mason was just inches from her face looking at her, concerned.

She didn't want him to know the truth. Not here, at least. He deserved to have a fun time. He was putting money into this trip.

So, she swallowed her emotions and leaned forward, pressing her lips to his. He was hers for today.

He wrapped his arms around her, pressing her flat against the wall. His lips were rough against hers, and his hands were pulling at her hips. She could almost laugh.

They pulled away, and a blush rolled over her. "We should keep moving." She winked. "Teach me some more history."

Before he could move, someone jostled into him, and he turned around, snapping, "Watch where you're going."

It was just like that morning, and Ellie pulled at his shirt, bringing his attention back to her. "Hey," she told him. "It was just an accident."

"He was being …” His words cut off then as they met her eyes, and she could see all the anger evaporating in them. "You know what? You're right. I'm sorry."

Ellie blinked, surprised. Why was he kind to her when he was so impatient with others? Was it just his shifter temper? Would it turn on her too?

Or was there something more?

She didn't have time to give it much thought as Mason grabbed her hand, pulling her around the corner. He yanked her off the ground, hoisted her into his arms, and held her there. He kissed her, pressing his entire body against hers. She could feel his cock, and almost moaned.
