Cam grinned. "Fine. What I know about makeup could fit on my ex-boyfriend's dick. Is that better?" A dimple showed in her right cheek.

Eva giggled.

Honest to God, she's the only person I know who actually giggles. The sound is infectious.

I laughed. "Why does it not surprise me that you would compare his dick to a postage stamp? That guy talked a big game and drove a big car." I drew the word out until I almost ran out of breath.

Don't get me wrong here, if Cam wanted to be with him, she would have my support her all the way.

For real though, she was too good for a guy whose mission in life seemed to be getting kicked out of strip clubs. No prizes for guessing that he kept putting his hands when he shouldn't.

Cam grimaced. "I don't know what I saw in him. It certainly wasn't his money or his dick."

Camryn Bond worked at Commanders Stadium, home of the Chesapeake Commanders football team, as the events manager. She was surrounded by rich men, like the players and the team's owner, on a daily basis. Not to mention the acts she booked and had to look after. She practically fended off horny rock stars and guys like that, for a living.

She wasn’t impressed by money, fame or good looks. That was one reason she was good at her job. She was always professional. Most of the Commanders saw her as one of the guys, or a sister, not a woman to be messed around with. Unless she wanted to mess around with them, which happened once or twice.

In spite of my brother Abraham 'Bam' Clinton, being on the team, and the rest of them being like brothers to me too, I could admit a lot of them were hot. Fact is, most of them knew it, and they were the kind of guys I stayed the hell away from.

You couldn't pay me to date any of them, but a girl could look. Honestly, they wouldn't date me either, since my brother would give them a hard time for it. He was sweet, he was, but he took overprotective to a whole new level. He'd chilled out a lot since he got together with his girlfriend, Grace, which was just as well. I didn’t need him to scare all the guys away.

I pressed my lips together in thought, then said, "It must have been his personality."

All three of us looked at each other and burst out laughing. None of said it, but we were all thinking the same thing. What personality? Yeah, okay, he wasn't that bad, but Cam was happier without him.

"Seriously though, do I look all right?" I glanced back to the mirror and frowned. I managed to tame my black hair and pulled it back into a frizzy ball. My makeup was subtle, except for a hint of bright pink eyeshadow. I wouldn't be me without an extra splash of color here or there.

My dress was black, covered with splotches the same color as my eyeshadow. It fell to just above my knees, was cut low in the front, and hugged my rear. You know what they say. If you've got it, flaunt it. I was insecure about a lot of stuff, but my body wasn't one of them.

"You look amazing," Eva said. With blond hair and blue eyes, she was the complete opposite of me in looks. In personality, we both had the same wicked sense of humor. Same with Cam. The three of us could talk and laugh for hours and never run out of things to say. We were like sisters from three very different misters. They always had my back and I had theirs. If I asked for their opinion, they would give it to me honestly.

If I looked like crap, they would say so. I would do the same for them, always. That’s what real friends are for.

"You really do," Cam said. "You look gorgeous. Do you want to swap hair?" She patted hers. It was dark brown and dead straight. She kept it short and tucked back behind her ears. It suited her face, which was covered in freckles, and made her brown eyes look even bigger.

"You couldn't handle hair this level of epic," I joked. Some days, neither could I. My hair was like tangletown, population, me. It was nothing short of a miracle that today it was behaving itself.

"That's true," Cam said. A smile played around the corners of her mouth, so I knew she wasn't offended by what I said. "You're a whole lot of epic."

"Huh." I sniffed. "I ain't that much epic." I pretended to fluff the back of my hair.

"Just the right amount," Eva said. She rose from where she'd been sitting on the edge of my bed and gave me a hug. "You're going to do amazing today."

I hugged her back. "I hope so. Right now, I'm so nervous I could pee my panties."

Eva giggled. "You better not drink too much coffee then."

"Or cola," Cam agreed.

"Or wine," Eva added.

"And don't drink too much water." Cam grinned.

I shook my finger at them both. "Would you stop talking about liquids? You're making it worse." Which was the point, of course. I was surprised neither of them pulled out their phone and played the sound of trickling water.

"Sorry," Cam said without looking sorry at all. After a moment she added, "Don't forget to have an extra cup of tea before you leave." She ducked as I try to swat her lightly with my fingers.

"Remind me again why we're friends," I said with a laugh.
