"Because you love us," Eva said. "And we love you."

"Yeah, that sounds about right," I said. I wasn't very good at all that mushy stuff. I guessed that came with the territory when you spend a lot of time hanging out with a big brother and his friends. For years, they thought of me as one of the guys and so did I. If I was built bigger, I could hold my own in a game of football. Don't tell anyone, but these days I preferred heels to football boots. I mean, I didn't mind getting dirty, but it was nice to wear a dress and feel pretty once in a while.

I looked at the time on my phone. "I kinda wish the job started earlier in the day. Who the hell starts work after lunch?"

They both exchanged a look and spoke in unison. "Rock stars?"

When they finally finished laughing, Cam said, "People like that probably don't get out of bed unless they have to."

Eva sighed. "That would be nice, wouldn't it?"

"They probably can't get out of bed because their bed is full of groupies," I said dryly. I made a face.

I've seen guys and girls like that a thousand times, hanging around my brother and the other Commanders. They're probably a million times worse around rock stars. Some of them were star struck silly, but a lot of them wanted to make a name for themselves by sleeping with someone famous. Or maybe they thought some famous guy would fall in love with them and save them from the real world. I guess I couldn’t blame them for dreaming. Stranger things, right?

Anyway, it wasn't something I was interested in doing. I mean, I like a night of fun as much the next girl, but not just because of who the guy was. That shallow shit was just not me.

"Remember the time we waited outside the backstage door after we saw Graceless Turtles," Eva said.

I did remember. I scrunched up my face.

"That was one time," I said. All right, the lead singer was pretty freaking hot. We waited for three hours in the cold winter air. When the band finally came out, they walked straight past us into a waiting car. None of them even gave us a glance.

"That band had a weird name anyway," I said. "Is there such a thing as a graceful turtle?" They broke up shortly after that. I took a moment to wonder what happened to that lead singer, but dismissed the thought. If you can't even spare a couple of seconds to wave at fans, maybe you don’t deserve fans.

"Bands always have weird names," Cam said. "Remember those ones that played after the Super Bowl a couple of years ago?"

“Yeah, I bet Tilly remembers… Was he the bassist?” Eva gave me a sly look.

“He was the drummer,” I muttered.

Luckily in my face was turned away so they couldn't see me blushing. The night I spent with the drummer, Jett, was definitely not because they were famous. At least, they weren't at the time. Back then, they were known as Strike and the Rock Dragons. From what I gather, when they signed with their label they had to change their name to Rock Dragons. Strike, I'm guessing that's a nickname, was still their lead singer. Nowadays, I heard them on the radio and even had a few of their songs on a playlist on my phone.

But I was totally not a groupie. Not then and not now. No way.

“Right,” Eva drew the word out. “He was cute.”

"Yeah, he was okay," I said. He was more than okay, but that was a long time ago now. It was just one of those things, you know? Alcohol, recent breakup, heat of the moment. Under other circumstances, maybe Jett and I would have had a real connection. In those days, he was playing on the weekends and driving a delivery van during the week. Just a regular, ordinary guy.

Now, he was anything but.

At least, as far as I knew. It wasn't like I stalked the guy all over the Internet or anything. Looking him up once in a while was not stalking. Right? No, of course not.

"They'll be touring soon," Cam said softly. "The boss wants me to try to get them to play Commanders Stadium. Can you imagine?"

"Now that would be epic," Eva said with a sigh. "Can you get us front row seats?"

Cam shrugged one shoulder. "I can try. Or Tilly can. They'd probably give out some to the players." Her gaze turned towards me.

"If anyone can talk his way into getting tickets it will be Bam," I agreed. "And if he does I'll make him take us." My brother could never refuse a request from his baby sister. Especially if I gave him my best puppy dog eyes.

Eva grinned. She was almost jumping up and down and vibrating on the spot.

"I didn't realise you were such a big fan," I commented.

"I like their music," Eva said. "It's good for working out to."

"Working out or making out?" I teased.
