“You want to be friends,” she said, aware again of her apparel. “Then I am definitely not dressed right.”

When she tried to take her hand back, he tightened his grip. “Yes, I pick option two, but I have conditions of my own.”

Oh, well, fair was fair. “Okay, hit me.”

“I won’t say no.”

Why did this guy insist on never making sense? “Uh…” her gaze drifted. “That doesn’t sound like a condition.”

“Whatever you want, you’ll get. Sex, money, whatever I can give you, I will. I told you nothing but honesty, so that’s what I’m giving you. I’m warning you in advance.”

“Use my power wisely?” she teased, raising their joined hands to her cheek for a second.

“Right. Your only condition is no guarantee?”

“Friendship,” she said. “No guarantee. No time limit.”

“No other guys,” he said. “Until we agree there’s no chance for us. No other guys.”

“So we’re exclusive friends,” she said. “What if we never agree? How about, no other guys until one of us decides there’s no chance for us, but…” with one caveat. “We have to tell the other first. No blindsiding each other or moving on without talking about it.”

“Okay,” he said, studying her mouth.

“Any more conditions?”

“Do I get to add physical conditions?”

“Like?” she asked.

His lips twisted into a smirk. “I like your outfit.”

Meaning if he got to add physical conditions, he’d pick lingerie?

She laughed, tugging her hands free of his. “Don’t flirt with me.”

“That’s not a condition I can agree to, I’ll definitely be doing that.”

“Xander, you better play nice.”

As she sank against the back of the couch, he came around to lean over her, using a fingertip to push aside the edge of her shirt, revealing more of her breast. Arching into his arousing scrutiny was automatic.

“Last condition,” he said, his finger going deeper into the fabric until it touched her trembling flesh.

“Mm hmm?”

“You asked for honesty, I want it in return. We answer each other’s questions with the truth. Always. We tell each other the truth, baby. I don’t want there to be anything you don’t tell me.”

“Okay,” she said, pressing her hand to his pec. “I really thought you chose option one.”

“Disappointed?”

“Mm mm,” she said, rejecting the notion as her hand slunk higher and her fingertips crept into the neck of his tee-shirt. “We have to tell each other everything?”

“Everything.”

“Then you should know I’m really stupid.”

“You are, huh? Watch it, that’s my friend you’re talking about.”
