“Take care of yourself,” Roxie said, leaning in to hug her. “I’ll see you soon.”
Xander held the door open for her, and then their friend was gone.
She sighed. “I’m gonna miss her.”
“She’s a force. I said so, didn’t I?”
“You were right,” she said, going into his arms after he closed the door. “So what’s next?”
“What do you want to do next?”
Oh, that was an easy question. Her eyes rolled to the top corner of their sockets. “Roxie said I could take a couple of days off… So I guess I’m on vacation.”
“Really?” he drawled. “Where’d you want to go? I’ll take you anywhere in the world.”
“I was hoping you’d say that.”
“Yeah? Where do you want to go?”
Stepping out of his embrace, she twined their fingers together to lead him across the room. “To bed.” She tossed a sultry look over her shoulder. “At least until it starts raining… You have some making up to do, businessman.”
“Anything you say, Button. I am yours to command.”
“Don’t you forget it.”
Their beginning was hardly conventional and things got rocky in the middle. They’d ridden the storm and come out stronger. Tomorrow might be a mystery, but she knew one thing for sure. Xander Gauge was her man. Now and forever.
