I’m settled now in Erie, Pennsylvania. Not a big city, but big enough to get lost in. I do not know how long I will stay here, but it’s home for now.

I’m working as a bartender at Dirty Dicks. It’s a dive, and the Satans MC owns the place, but the tips are good, and it’s off the beaten path. It’s safe.

Tonight, something has gone down with the Satans. It’s Friday night, and they usually packed the place. But not tonight. There is not a Satan to be seen. Just then, the front doors open, and in walks five rather hot guys. They have MC cuts on, but they are not Satans; they are Knights. The Knights are Satan’s rivals, and in the several months I have been here, I have never seen a Knight walk in that door. Until tonight.

They head straight for the main table the Satans always occupied and sit down. Oh, these boys are bold, I think. Don’t they realize they are dead if a Satan walks in and sees them at their table?

I straighten my apron and head toward them, order pad in hand.

“Um, can I take your order?” I’m nervous, and I want to tell them that if they value their lives, they should find another table, but I am too scared I’ll get myself into something I can’t get out of.

“Well, look at you?” says the older one with “Ace” on his patch and “president” directly under his name. “Aren’t you a pretty thing?” he teases.

I know he is just flirting in a biker nice guy kind of way, but he still makes me anxious. I keep looking at the door nervously ‘cause I’m so afraid a Satan will walk in and all hell is going to break loose.

Ace catches me looking at the door and says, “Come over here, darl’n’.”

I do as he asks, and he leans back in his chair, gesturing toward the door. “Why do you keep looking at the door? Are you expecting someone?”

I stutter. “Um, no… I mean well yeah, maybe.”

He laughs. “I know exactly what you are thinking, and let me tell you; you have nothing to fear.”

Dumbfounded, I look at him. There is no way he could know what I’m thinking. That’s impossible. “Like hell you do,” I say sarcastically, and I feel more at ease. I’m no longer intimidated by him because I know something he doesn’t.

“You’re afraid that one of your precious Satans is going to walk through that door and beat the shit out of us for sitting at their table, am I right?” Ace says.

Astounded, I reply, “Yes. But how…?” Okay, so maybe I didn’t.

Before I could finish, Ace adds, “Well, tonight, that’s not gonna happen. And thanks to my brothers here, you aren’t gonna see another Satan in this bar or town ever again.” He slams his hand down on the table. “’Cause we just ran those fuckers out of town!”

The guys with him bang their fists too.

Are the Satans really gone? Relief washes over me.

Yes, they gave me a job and a good income, but they are a bunch of animals of the worst kind. I don’t mind the flirting in a mannerly way, like Ace here, but the Satans are constantly copping a feel, whether it be my ass, my boobs, or any other place on my body they could grab.

“Give us a bottle of Jack and five shot glasses!” Ace exclaims. “We’ve got some celebrating to do, and we couldn’t think of a better place.”

Suddenly, all I can do is smile. I give Ace the biggest smile and say, “Yes, sir!”

I’m happy. I haven’t felt it in such a long time that it feels good, and these guys, these Knights, just made me joyful. They didn’t grab my ass. They are polite and so different from what I have been used to.

Grabbing a bottle of Jack from the shelf, I chuckle to myself. I like them, especially the one with the salt and pepper hair. I don’t believe he is as old as his hair color makes him because he has a youthful face. Giddy, suddenly I think of Jamison. I shake my head. No, Gina, stop that. Jamison is most likely married with a family of his own. It’s time to make a life for yourself. And with that thought, I head over to their table with their Jack and shot glasses.

I place the shot glasses in front of Ace and pour the five shots, placing the bottle on the table when I am finished. The one with the salt and pepper hair says, “Where’s yours?”

I blush. When I was hired, I was specifically told, no drinking on the job. “I can’t,” I say sheepishly, “I’m not allowed to drink on the job.”

He laughs. “Haven’t you figured it out yet, sweetheart?” he asks.

I shake my head. “Um, no?”

“Ice, since you are the man of the hour, please inform the lady,” Ace says with a chuckle.

I look curiously at the one he calls Ice and can’t help but notice how incredibly sexy he is. Jet black hair and the most beautiful blue eyes.

Before Ice can say a word, the handsome one with the salt and pepper hair says, “Don’t go getting ideas with that one. He’s a loner.”
