“Youarea doctor, aren’t you?” I asked.
“Of course,” he smiled. “It’s been a while since I told someone the anesthetic joke. Did I get you?”
“Scared me a little too, I must confess,” I let out a sigh of relief. “You should try comedy as a side gig.”
“I did, but my audience wasn’t patient,” he replied.
I laughed at the pun he made.Wait? You didn’t get the pun? You see, he’s a doctor, so when he says…ah, never mind.
He continued his tests and his light jokes. He was a very interesting person to talk to.
“I guess that’s it,” he said. “You’re all better, but I won’t let you leave until tomorrow morning.”
“That’ll be fine,” I replied.
He nodded and was about to leave, but I stopped him.
“I was involved in a car accident and lost my memories,” I said. “I just got them back, and everything feels a little jumbled.”
“Do you need drugs to help you forget or…” he raised a brow.
“Wait, there are drugs like that?” I asked.
“It’s 2021. There are drugs for practically anything these days,” he sighed.
“Well, I just wanted to know if there were any to help me blend them together,” I said. “The past memories make me feel like I’m hallucinating.”
“Alright then, I’ll see what I can do,” he said as he left.
Hunter came into the room as the doctor left. “So what did he say?”
“Well, looks like I’ll be here for another day,” I said. “Which is perfect. I need you to do something for me.”
“Yeah? What’s that?” he asked.
“I need you to deliver a message,” I said. “Tell Blake that I’ll be coming back sooner than he thinks. He should make sure my chair is clean.”
“I told you...I don’t...” Hunter started to say.
“Look, Hunter, lying to me won’t help you in any way,” I sighed. “Do as you are told and deliver the message, okay?”
“I see,” he said and got to his feet. “Welcome back, I guess. I think Blake would be thrilled to know that you’re back.”
“He better be.” I smiled.
Hunter nodded and left.
I let out a sigh and scrolled through the search results.
