He had a point. Judging the type of woman Aria was, it was safe to assume that there was no chance in hell I would have ended up with her.

“I guess I do have to thank you for that,” I sighed. “Now, are you sure that you haven’t heard from my brother?”

“No…I haven’t,” he said. “So what’s your plan? Are you really going home now?”

“Well, did the nurses or doctor mention how long I will be here?” I asked.

“Well, no, they didn’t,” he said. “That reminds me, I was told to alert them immediately when you wake up. I’ll be right back.”

I thanked him as he left.

I opened my browser and searched for Parker Corp. As expected, the company was in a little decline compared to when I was in charge. Amongst the list of partners, I noticed that Blake had gone ahead to forge partnerships with those companies I had rejected.

During the first year, the company made enough, but there was a decline.

That dumb fool,I thought.

Parker Corp was still solely focused on oil. There was nothing else backing the company. The company was doomed to fail with time.

I looked up Blake Parker, and he was still single and was portrayed as the billionaire playboy. However, some tabloids called him the shadow of Nick Parker. That was good. Not every media house supported him. There was still a chance I could win this.

I couldn’t just waltz back there and take over the company like one would take candy from a baby.

I mean, I didn’t die, so they will still…I stopped my thought process.

Short snippets of memory flashed in my mind.

When I lost my memories, I started an account where I posted the photos I took. One time I triedEgo Surfing, whereyou search the internet about yourself to find out if you’re popular yet.

When I searched, I saw different headlines with my name, but the descriptions made me think they were talking about someone else.

I typed the wordsNick Parker, Parker Corp.

It seemed to take an eternity for the results to turn up. When they did, I wasn’t pleased with all that I saw.

“Ah, you’re awake,” the doctor said as he came in.

“It seems so,” I smiled and looked behind him…he was alone. “Where’s Hunter?”

“Hmm? Your friend?” he turned. “I told him to wait a little outside.”

“Oh, okay…” I sighed. “…so when do I get out?”

“Well…” he grabbed one of those flashlight thingies, “…I just have to run a few tests to check that everything is fine.”

“Will they hurt?” I raised a brow.

“I can make them hurt,” he said as he put on his gloves.

“I was joking,” I said. “Please don’t make it hurt.”

“I was also joking,” he chuckled. “Doctors aren’t allowed to cause our patients pain.”

“Right.”

“Legally, of course,” he continued. “It’s a little fun toforgetgiving a patient anesthetic before cutting them open.”

I chuckled nervously, but he wasn’t laughing. We stared at each other seriously.
