“No, I’m going to head back to the area for the bathrooms and see if I can’t sneak a few minutes alone with my wife. It’sbeen, oh, two hours since I’ve kissed her properly, I’m sure the other men at the table can relate,” he said heading to the back of the building.

“I don’t know about you all but if that’s not a hint about cutting the evening short I don’t know what is,” Vince laughed.

“I agree,” the associate said, “and I think I should follow suit and let my wife know how much I adore her.”

“You’re just saying that because you missed our anniversary dinner three months ago,” his wife teased, “but I wouldn’t object to an early evening.”

Wyatt stopped Gabby outside the bathroom kissing her briefly before asking if she was okay.

“I’m fine Wyatt, even if Donald did escape that doesn’t mean he’s coming after me despite what he’d said, and it’s not like he’ll be able to find Haley. Do you think I haven’t tried over the past few years to find her? I did, and now I’m going to use those skills to figure out where Donald went and make sure that he pays…dearly.”

“Can’t say I object too much to that, need any help?”

“Just a computer, which I’ve got at home, but I won’t object to a congratulatory night out when he’s found,” she teased him. “How much longer do you think we’ll need to stay?”

“Not too long if my comments worked out the way I hoped.”

They arrived back at their table to find their guests getting ready to go.

“Well who broke up the party?” Gabby laughed.

“No one,” Caroline told her. “We took Wyatt’s comment into consideration and decided that an early night might just be the perfect choice.”

“It was great to meet you Gabby,” their associate’s wife said. “Take care of your wife Wyatt, I have a feeling we could be good friends.”

“I agree,” Gabby smiled. “I look forward to our next meeting.”

“Then I guess I should get you home and start taking care of her so we can all have dinner again,” Wyatt said kissing the side of Gabby’s head.

“Good night everyone,” Gabby said heading towards the door with Wyatt. Things certainly weren’t working out the way she’d planned and it didn’t look like they were going to change anytime soon.

Chapter 12

Gabby sighed hitting the keyboard in frustration, she’d been at it for four days trying to uncover where Donald had stashed the money and where he’d went, and she knew she needed a better operating system if she actually stood a chance of finding him. She knew there were only two places where she’d find one capable of meeting her needs…the FBI center where she’d refused to go work at and at the office.

She made a choice and went to change into something more appropriate for going out into public in. She’d just gotten to the building when Wyatt approached and she knew Justin had given him a head’s up.

“Gabby, what can I do for you?” he asked slipping an arm around her.

“I need a favor,” she told him. “Look, I need to know where Donald is and what he’s plotting. Unfortunately, I can’t get close enough to him on our system at home. I need to use the system here, one day, if you want you can look over my shoulder the entire time. I promise to behave; I know shocking right? I’ll even one up that and leave you a present behind.”

“I have meetings for most of the afternoon but I’ll set you up with Morris. Be warned though, if this is a trick Gabby, I won’tbe happy,” he stated leading her towards his office and calling Morris up. “Watch her and see if you can’t help her out.”

“Will do boss,” Morris agreed.

Gabby was thrilled at her opportunity and the fact that Wyatt agreed to it without a demand of returning his money. Haley had agreed to let her return a portion of the extreme excess she’d taken but she’d also left her with enough to take care of Jess for a long, longtime. Finding Donald was actually easier than she’d expected and she was grinning ear to ear as Wyatt returned.

“I sincerely hope that’s a good smile and not a devious one,” he said coming over to look at the monitor. “What’s this?”

“This is where that slimeball hid his money,” she laughed, “and this…is where he’s been and where he’s going. I told you it wouldn’t take me long.”

“Hold on, you found Donald? In, four hours?” Wyatt asked.

“I sure did, and as we speak there are authorities heading his way,” she smiled.

“How’s that?” he inquired.

“Anonymous tip sent into them by Gabby,” Morris said. “She was good boss…great actually; don’t know why you didn’t hire her on for my position in the first place.”
