"The note only mentioned her seeing that one guy," Mike reminded him.

"I know, but once they reached town, they would have spread out, which was why Cassidy only saw that one guy.”

Mike slapped the wheel. “This sucks.”

“Tell me about it.”

“We should warn everyone in my family. No telling who these guys might try to extract information from.”

“Do you really think your relatives will say anything?” Mike asked.

“Not if they know who these men are. I’m not sure everyone in the family even knows what happened to Cassidy.” Mike dipped his chin and glanced over at him. “Okay, fine. They know, but they might not realize why Doug wants Cassidy. I’ll call Dad and tell him we're checking out the bus station.” He put the phone on speaker so Mike could hear.

As Zach gave him the details, his father listened carefully.

“From what you’re saying, you believe Cassidy left voluntarily, but only because she might not realize that the Grangers are a formidable family.”

“That’s my take.”

“If you're going to the bus station, I can see if she booked a flight."

"Dad, Cassidy doesn't have the money for a ticket." He reminded his dad that she didn't bring any credit cards with her."

"Well, I'll figured out something and let you know."

“Appreciate it.” Zach wasn’t all that hopeful his father could find her. Cassidy had perfected the art of disappearing.

For the next few minutes they drove in silence, in part because it had started to snow. Zach wasn’t sure if bad weather would be a good thing or not. It would slow down a bus, but it also might slow down anyone following her.

Mike pulled in front of the bus station, and Mason slid in next to them. They all jumped out and rushed into the station office. Andrew Lindsay, who was on the wrong side of eighty, was manning the desk. He looked up, put down his crossword puzzle book, and tried to sit up straight.

“Well, this is a surprise. What can I do for you fellows?”

Mike explained about Cassidy possibly taking a bus today. “Do you remember selling her a ticket?”

“Hmm. Let me see.” The old man looked at a handwritten notebook. “No one by the name of Cassidy Evans bought a ticket.”

“She may not have used her real name. She’s tall and blonde. Strong looking.” Zach wasn’t sure how else to describe her.

He shook his head. “I would have remembered that one, for sure. Sorry fellows.”

“What about the bus that is leaving tonight for Casper, Wyoming?” Zach asked.

“Nope. I’m sorry. I didn’t sell any tickets for that one today.”

Zach wasn’t sure if Mr. Lindsay was losing it, or if Cassidy hadn’t taken a bus. They thanked him and left.

“Want to grab a coffee or a drink at the Double G Bar?” Mason asked. “It’s possible Will heard something. We'll come back before ten to make sure she isn't getting on the bus.”

“Sure.”

They hopped in their respective trucks and drove the short distance to town. As much as Zach wanted to speculate about where Cassidy might be, it would be better to have everyone present. Zach didn’t trust himself to think clearly.

Mike parked in front of the bar where a fair amount of cars were lined up. With the way the snow had picked up, they probably wouldn't be staying long.

Once inside, he motioned for his cousin Will to come over.

“What’s up, guys? You look troubled.”
