With his help, I manage to get my leg over one side of the bike to sit behind him, his hands caressing my calves as he shows me where to prop my feet before sitting back up. “Hold on tight.”

The rumble of the engine lights up around me as the vibrations of the bike between my legs elicits a spark of electricity in my veins. Yes, oh God, yes. I lean into the sensation, wrapping my arms tightly around Kai, pressing every part of me that I can against his back. He squeezes my thigh once and I respond by gripping him tighter.

I’m so fucking ready.

He shifts the bike, kicking up his leg and releasing the kickstand before revving the engine and peeling down the street. My stomach flips as he races away, joyous laughter bubbling from my throat. I’ve never before felt as close to flying as I do right in this very moment.

This will definitely be a night to remember.

“Nic is such a dick! Ugh! Tell me why he insists on constantly being a thorn in my ass!” I down the rest of my drink as I slump in my seat, mentally reminding myself not to lay my head down on the sticky surface of the bar in front of me. No matter how cooling it might be to my overly heated flesh.

“I just don’t think he ever grew out of that age where guys pull a girl’s pigtails if they like her.” Kai chuckles to himself as his hand rubs lines up and down my spine.

“What? No. Nic doesn’t like me. He hates me!” My words are slightly slurred and my head falls into my hands. Kai’s ministrations on my back soothe me, leaving me feeling boneless.

“No, Wick, you’ve got it all wrong. He hates that he actually likes you.”

“You’re insane. Were you dropped on your head as a baby? A screw loose up there?” I twist enough to tap my finger against his head, accidentally hitting him far harder than I intended to with my depth perception being so off.

Sue me, being blind makes being drunk so much harder. Kai just grabs my hand and spins me even further until I’m virtually laying half on his lap and half on my bar stool.

Oooh. This is nice. I think I’ll just stay here.

“I was, but my head is just fine, thanks. Other than the pounding headache you just gave me from punching me.” I laugh with him, his body shaking beneath me. “The fact remains, Nic does like you. Far too much. Hell, maybe even more than me. And hehatesit.”

“Okay, I’ll humor you. If, and that’s a big if, he actually likes me–not just because he wants to bone me–then why does he hate it?” I reach my hands out, grabbing Kai’s face and studying the grooves and contours of his features with my fingers.

“It’s simple really…” My fingers graze over his lips as he speaks, but he doesn’t seem to mind, so I stroke my thumb over his bottom lip as my other hand plays with his hair. “You frustrate the ever-loving shit out of him. You’re stubborn and bullheaded, you have no sense of self preservation, you’ll do the absolute craziest shit during cases, that puts you right in the crosshairs of the most dangerous people on the planet, and…he can’t control you.”

“Thatdoessound like me.” I let my arms fall and land on my stomach, but he grabs one and pulls it back up to his cheek. I acquiesce to his silent demand and stroke his angular features once more.

“But I also think that’s why he likes you so much. He can’t control you, so you’re not boring. You’re smart. Even though you do put yourself in danger quite a bit, it’s at least for a good reason. You’re probably the only person on earth who actually challenges him.” My hand stills on Kai’s cheek and he leans into it.

“And how do you feel about that?” I ask, my stomach flipping and doing a few cartwheels as I wait for his answer.

“Feel about him liking you?”

“Duh.” I slap his cheek playfully and he tickles me softly in response before bending over me, his presence pressing closer to my face. I feel his warm breath as his mouth hovers over mine, upside down, before his teeth nibble at my lower lip. A moan escapes me as he bites a little harder, his arms moving to caress my sides as his fingers graze over my exposed midriff. I didn’t even realize my hoodie was riding up.

“I kinda like it.” He finally pulls away and I groan.

“Huh?”

“That Nic likes you. Ezra too. I think it’s hot.”

“Wait, what?” Confusion slices through my buzz and I sit back up on my stool, with more than a little help from Kai. “How can you say that? Weren’t you the one trying to make this a thing?” I wave my hand from him to me, signaling that I mean me and him.

“And I still am. That doesn’t mean that the thought of your naked body pressed between the three of us doesn’t make me hard as a fucking diamond. Besides, I think we all have our own issues. If we can each fill a hole in your life, who am I to stop it? Pun fully in-fucking-tended.” I hear the smile in his voice and I let out a dry laugh.

“So what? You just want to pass me around like a high paid prostitute? No fucking thanks.” Irritation sobers me as I wave my glass in the air, hoping the bartender can see that I need a refill. Though, this place is super busy tonight, so my chances aren’t great.

“No, not like a prostitute, Wicked, don’t put shit in my mouth.” I feel Kai shift and in the next moment another glass slides in front of me.

“Thanks,” I mumble before sipping on the scotch, the burn giving a bit more of a kick now that my buzz has faded somewhat.

“No problem. Now, back to what I was saying. I meant like…well, shit, this is a lot harder to explain than I thought.” He pauses for a second before continuing. “I’m talking like a real relationship between you and us. I’m totally down for it and I have no doubts that Ezra wouldn’t give any fucks whatsoever. He’s smitten as hell with you, but he also knows he isn’t capable of being the one and only for a girl, not with all his issues. That’s why his fiancée ghosted him. And Nic? Well, he might put up a fight at first, but he’s addicted to you in a way that wouldn’t allow him to walk away, regardless of the two other cocks in your life.”
