We share a look. “Do you think it’s because of Marko? Maybe he did it as a warning or something?”

“I’m going to call Decker,” she says, pulling her phone out of her handbag, while I take a picture of the window on my phone.

I grab her arm and lead her back inside. “Let’s go in and lock the door, just in case.” They might still be out here.

I send Atlas a text, the photo I took with the captionSomeone did this to Cara’s car at my apartment.

He replies instantly:I’m on my way. Stay inside.

“Atlas is coming,” I tell Cara.

She nods. “So is Decker. How did we not hear the window breaking?”

“We were talking and laughing too loudly, I guess.”

Cara sighs and runs her fingers through her hair. “When is this shit going to end?”

“When Marko dies.”

Her eyes widen at my blunt reply. “I hate to say it, but you’re probably right. And somehow I’m always in the crossfire.”

“Sorry,” I apologize. “I think this time that’s because of me.”

This time it’s me smack bang in the middle of it.

“It’s not your fault, Natty. Sorry, I’m always going to call you that. But this isn’t your war; you’ve just been dragged into it, too,” she assures me.

Decker arrives first, with Atlas minutes behind him. Decker comes to check on Cara first before looking at the car, and I notice that Atlas does the same with me.

“Are you okay?” he asks, giving me a once-over, hand touching my shoulder.

“I’m fine,” I promise. He nods, thumb brushing my cheek before he goes back outside to look at the car, while Decker checks the security footage. All we can see is someone running up, wearing all black, including a ski mask, and throwing a brick at the window and then leaving.

“Well, that gives us nothing. It was one of Marko’s minions, I know it. He’s sending a message.”

Atlas pulls me against his hard body to comfort me. “It’s going to be okay.”

“You going to stay with her tonight?” Decker asks, and Atlas nods.

“Yeah, I will.”

I guess the fact that he’s sleeping here is now public information. It doesn’t bother me, though—I don’t care who knows. When Cara and Decker both go home, I have a long shower and get into my pajamas.

Atlas is in the living room watching a movie, and I sit on his lap, straddling him. “Make me forget,” I whisper.

I don’t want to talk.

I just want the makeup sex I’ve been waiting for.

And with his lips on mine, and hard cock inside me, I get just that.

Chapter Eighteen

Atlas

“Does Aries like me?” Natalie asks over breakfast. We spent the morning talking about everything that has happened recently; with the car situation last night I just wanted to make sure that she was okay.

Surprised by her question, I put down the slice of avocado toast. “Of course he does. Why would you ask that?”
