“Well, he’s your twin and you usually spend more time with him, but now you’re spending it with me. Do you think he feels left out? I don’t want him to feel like you’ve just ditched him and maybe resent me for it.”

“No, I’m not sure where you got that.”

“I don’t know. I’m probably overthinking it. But I remember when Cara and Con reconnected, I did feel left out and jealous. I know it’s not the same thing, but maybe you should check in with him and make sure he’s okay,” she suggests, and although she’s right, I get distracted by her licking some mango juice off her fingers.

“He does like you, he would have told me if he didn’t, but I’ll check in with him and make sure he’s all good,” I say, smiling at her. “And thank you for thinking of him.”

“He’s a part of you,” she replies with a shrug. “I want him to be happy, too. Maybe we could do something with him. He could bring one of his women, or come alone. Whatever he’s comfortable with.”

“One of his women,” I snicker.

“You know what I mean,” she says, waving a hand in the air. She comes closer and kisses me. “I had fun last night. Thank you for coming.”

I grin against her lips and kiss her again. “Thank you for being my dessert.”

She laughs, and goes back to finishing her breakfast and getting ready for work. I do the same, and then we share a deep, long kiss and say goodbye. I follow her to make sure she gets to work safely, and then head off.

Aries is already at work when I get there, and I walk up to him and give him a hug.

“Hello to you, too,” he murmurs, amused.

“Natalie asked me if you liked her,” I start. “And she asked how you are feeling with her being in the picture now, and it made me realize that I haven’t asked you. I know we haven’t been spending as much time together—”

“Stop being weird. We still see each other more than most siblings do.”

“I know, but I just wanted to check. Why don’t you come and hang out with me and Natalie? She said you can bring ‘one of your women.’” I use air quotes for emphasis.

He laughs. “Okay, I’d like that. I suppose I should be getting to know her better since she doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.”

“I’d really like that,” I reply with a nod, slapping him on the shoulder. “You know I love you. Always.”

“I know, and right back at you. Now come on, and stop being a baby. We need to get some work done.”

“Have you texted CJ about the brick?”

When he confirms he hasn’t, I start a group text with CJ to let him know what happened.

Atlas: Someone threw a brick at Cara’s car window last night. We think it’s a warning to Natalie because Marko figured out she’s connected.

CJ: Fuck. I’ve been lying low ever since I heard he got out, but I know he’s looking for me.

Atlas: We need to find him. For all our sakes.

CJ: Who’s Natalie?

Aries: It’s his woman. Pussy whipped.

I type a crude emoji even though Aries is right next to me.

CJ: When the fuck did you get a woman?

Aries: When he finally grew a pair.

Atlas: Haha very funny. Dickheads.

Atlas: Seriously though, CJ man I think you need to leave town.

CJ: Where the fuck am I supposed to go?
