“I said that I would support you no matter what. If this is something that you want, then I’m here for it,” she says, kissing me, the hose water spraying everywhere. I turn it off, throw it onto the grass and pull her into my arms.

“He obviously knows how hardworking you are, how loyal and intelligent,” she says, wrapping her legs around me as I lift her into the air. She presses her lips against mine and then leans back to look into my eyes. “What are you going to do?”

“You ready to be a president’s old lady?”

“I was born ready,” she says, pulling my face back to hers.

I carry her back into the house and we celebrate.

Only one thing could make my life better right now.

RIP Aries.

EPILOGUE

Atlas

Six Months Later

I’m not going to lie, I’m nervous. My palms are sweaty as fuck.

But when a man knows, he knows.

And I’ve known Natalie was mine since I first laid my eyes on her.

After visiting with Con, Rhett and their baby son, Maverick, I take her to the beach. The sun setting, and Natalie in a white linen dress with a wide-brimmed hat—I couldn’t think of a more perfect moment to propose to her.

Next week, I step in and take over as president.

But for right now?

I’m just a man who is head over heels in love with his woman.

I stop walking and take her hand, so she stops and turns around to face me.

Then I get down on my knees, and smile at her surprised expression.

“Natalie Ward, I knew I was going to love you the second I saw you, even if you needed a little convincing. I want to spend the rest of my life loving you. There is no one else for me. Will you marry me?”

“Yes, yes, I will,” she replies, tears in her eyes.

I slide the pear-shaped diamond ring on her finger. It’s the ring she always wanted to become engaged with. I made sure to ask Cara, and she pushed me in the right direction.

“Oh my God, it’s beautiful,” she cries, looking at the ring. “You did the research.”

I laugh and stand up, my arms falling to her hips. “Of course I did the research.”

I dip her back and kiss her, just like in the movies, the sun setting behind us.

“What do you think about eloping?” she asks later, when we are at home. She made me stop at the nail salon on the way home, because apparently a ring means new nails, or something like that. “We just bring Decker and Cara, or just a few people anyway. We could go somewhere tropical and get married on the beach.”

I kiss her temple. “I think that sounds perfect. Anything you want. Although I’m a little surprised—Cara hinted that you would want a big, fancy wedding.”

She smiles widely and shrugs. “I guess that’s what I used to want, but I think eloping sounds like a better plan. And Atlas?”

“Yes?” I ask.

“When we have a son, we can name him Aries.”

“I’d like that,” I reply, kissing her. “You are so beautiful.”

And forever mine.

“I’m proud of you, brother,”Aries says in my head.

I’m going to live for both of us.
