Willie: Double date. Yo, her fiancé was a total dick. I thought he was gunna be chill but he pissed off Eve big time. We had to leave and she won’t even tell me what’s going on.

Nathan: This is my business why?

Willie: Don’t act macho. I saw how your dumb face looked at Julia. You had googly eyes. Even Eve was talking about it. Be a man and txt her.

First of all, I’d never made googly eyes in my life, and I wanted to punch Willie’s teeth in right now. But the idiot had a point.

Nathan: Slow down Eharmony, we did text last night, but she blew me off. She’s engaged.

Willie: Bok, Bok, Bok

Willie sent me a whole screen worth of chicken emojis. It made me both hungry and upset. He was right though; I usually just went for what I wanted. Engaged though? Seems messy. But maybe I would like messy.

It was past mine and Winston’s bedtime, so we skipped dinner and hit the hay. Usually, I was passed out by now, but my phone buzzed again. I was annoyed, figuring it was Willie, probably tormenting me with a borage of eggplant emojis. I held down power button to shut it off, but Julia’s name popped up. I sat up in the pitch dark, my face illuminated by her text.

Julia: Can I trust you?

Jesus. It was a pretty serious way to start a text, but I was intrigued regardless.

Nathan: I’d say I’m pretty trustworthy, you can trust me on that ;)

Her message caught me off guard, but instead of waiting around I replied back as fast as possible before I lost this opportunity. Any high school bullshit rules about making her wait flew out the window. I walked the line between desperate and persistent but cared less about how I was perceived. All I knew was that it was late at night, and her beautiful name was on my screen.

Julia: I’m just not sure who to talk to, but part of me felt compelled to text you about something. Tonight was totally weird. I saw Robbie grab onto Eve’s wrist, but he doesn’t know that I saw. It just all felt weird. Did Willie say anything?

What a prick. I kinda wished I had clocked him at the bar last night now. It might have been worth it.

Nathan: I don’t know him, but from what I’ve seen it’s not surprising. Willie just said it was weird, but nothing about Eve being touched.

Julia: there was no way he could have seen, his back was to them at the time. As an outsider, do you think I should be nervous?

Nervous? This man was a walking red flag.

Nathan: Doesn’t sound great. But I suppose it’s hard to tell. Have you asked Eve about it?

Julia: not yet. I’m afraid of the answer. She hates his fucking guts so much. I could really use my fortune teller right now.

It’s cute that she remembered, if only she was here to have it done. What a sly gimmick, I was happy she played along.

Nathan: I need your palm to do it ;)

Nathan: However, I’ve learned in the past not to jump to conclusions, but with that guy… it’s safe to say your gut might be right on this.

She didn’t reply right away, and it made me question my response. Was it too blunt? Maybe, but something was fucked up about the guy, and I wanted to validate it.

The little response dots would appear and disappear. This happened for minutes as I sat in the dark, resting my arm above my head. It drove me insane, but finally it happened, her little gray bubble popped up.

Julia: Have you ever sent any type of sexts in the past?

Whoa, this conversation turned completely in my favor, and I wasn’t upset in the least bit. More so curious as to what led her beautiful mind to this.

Nathan: What made you think of that? ;)

Julia: Eve mentioned having some saucy fun. I assumed that’s what she meant by it and I’ve been thinking about it nonstop. I never have, but you popped into my mind if I were ever to experiment.

Her message alone shot excited nerves down to my stomach. I wanted to reach through the phone and bite her lip.

Nathan: Are you alone?
