“What’s that?”

Noah appeared in the doorway, and my heart stalled in my chest. He looked… God, he looked gorgeous. The plaid shirt fitted his broad chest to perfection, and he’d rolled his sleeves up to the elbows, revealing his sexy forearms.

I didn’t even know forearms could be sexy until this moment.

“Sorry the plans had to change,” he said. “The study group ran over, and I couldn’t get away.”

“It’s fine. You need to ace that class.”

“Damn right, he does,” Connor said.

Noah had confessed that since he no longer wanted to study with Sam, he needed extra support with a couple of his classes. I admired him for seeking help. It wasn’t always an easy thing to do especially when you were a star athlete destined for great things.

“You look beautiful, shortcake.” He pressed a chaste kiss to my cheek. But it wasn’t enough to appease my brother.

“Keep your hands to yourself, asshole.”

“Austin,” I sighed.

“Come on. Big brother will get over himself. Don’t wait up, kids.” Noah grabbed my hand and tugged me out of their house.

I missed living with them. Being in their space. But having my own place would be a blessing now that Noah and I were official.

“Are you going to tell me where we’re going yet?” I asked as we headed toward Connor’s truck.

“Nope. It’s a surprise.” Noah opened the door and helped me up.

“I hate surprises.”

“Pretty sure you’ll like this one.” He slammed the door and went around the driver’s side.

I smiled. We’d had this exact conversation before on our first and only date. But this time, things would have a different ending.

“I figured you wouldn’t want to eat,” he said. “But we can stop for sushi on the way or some of those zucchini fries you like so much?”

“I thought sushi was a crime against humanity?”

“Oh, it is, but for you, I’d suffer it.”

“My hero.” I flashed him a playful smile. “I actually already ate before I left. So I’m all set. But thank you.”

The second we headed out of town, I had a sneaky suspicion about where we were going.

“The Regal,” I said as he pulled the truck into the familiar parking lot.

“This is our do-over.”

“I like the sound of that.”

Noah parked and got out, coming around to open my door. We walked around to the front of the building hand in hand. My heart was so full of love there wasn’t room to worry about what anyone thought of us together.

“There’s one more surprise.” Noah pulled open the door of the movie theater and ushered me inside. “I managed to pull some strings and get them to air an exclusive screening of Mansfield Park just for us.”

“You did not.”

“Did too. Just so happens the owner’s son is a huge Lakers fan.”

“Oh my God. I can’t believe you did this.”
