But I’d never encountered a girl who had brushed me off so easily. Or at all, really. I was Noah fucking Holden. That meant something to ninety-nine percent of the female population at LU.

Although there was something about Aurora, something that had me all twisted up inside.

I didn’t like it.

Anything that was a distraction—notably girls and relationships—was a big no-no for me.

“Sorry to disappoint you, babe.” I turned on my charm. “But it’s not going to happen. I’ll talk to Aiden about the party, though.”

Some of the team were members of Sigma Delta Pi, and they had a long-standing partnership with Beta Pi.

“Do that.” Her expression soured a little. “And if you change your mind about my offer, you know where to find me.”

Of course, Aurora chose that moment to exit the coffee shop, coffee cup in hand.

“Friend of yours?” she asked.

“Who, Fallon? I wouldn’t say friend.” I shrugged, raking a hand through my hair as I watched them walk away.

“I see. It’s like that.”

“Like what?” I didn’t like her tone, the knowing glint in her eye.

“Nothing, Noah.” She let out a soft sigh and went to move around me, but I blocked her escape.

“No, come on, shortstack. If you’ve got something to say, say it.”

“I’d really like it if you didn’t call me that.”

“And I’d really like it if you didn’t judge me when you don’t really know me,” I shot back.

“Trust me. I know guys like you, Noah.” Her gaze lingered, waiting for me to argue, but I was so fucking dumbstruck that I stood there gawking.

Aurora slipped past me and took off down the oak tree-lined street.

“Hold up there, shor—Hart,” I yelled, taking off after her.

“Go away, Noah.”

“Yeah, not going to happen.” Falling into step beside her, she glanced up at me, frowning.

“You’re very annoying.”

“I want to know what you meant just now. That you know guys like me. What the fuck does that mean?”

“Look, I’ve heard the stories, okay?”

“The stories?” I frowned. “What the fuck—Ella and Dayna. They’ve been talking about me.”

“Not just them. Your reputation as one of the Lakers’ biggest players precedes you.”

“I…”

I didn’t really have a valid defense for that. Aurora was right. I liked sex. And I made sure never to sleep with the same girl twice. But I didn’t like hearing the truth come out of her pouty mouth.

“If you can’t deny it, Noah, it’s usually the truth.”

“So? I like sex.” I shrugged. “That isn’t a crime.”
