Derek: Security.
Piper: Like, you’ll be a bodyguard?
Derek: No. I would hire and train the recruits who’ll be doing classified jobs.
Piper: Would you leave me for that?
Derek: Leave you? Never. You’re stuck with me for life. We’re partners, remember?
Piper: It’s okay if you want to leave me, but don’t do anything dangerous.
Derek: Baby, I’m not going anywhere. If I accept to do it, it’ll be a side gig.
Piper: You wouldn’t put your life at risk, would you?
Derek: Are you concerned about me?
Piper: Yes.
Derek: If I accept, I’ll be careful.
Derek: Are you still there?
Piper: Yes, I’m just worried about you. Private security can be dangerous.
Derek: Everything can be dangerous.
Piper: True, but I’d hate to lose you because you chose to risk your life to protect someone else.
Piper: Yes, I read what I wrote, and it sounds selfish, but I don’t like to lose people.
Derek: You won’t lose me.
Derek: Why don’t I pick you up tomorrow morning? Where are you staying?
Piper: I’ll forward you the hotel information.
Derek: So… if you’re at a wedding, are you wearing a hot dress?
Piper: I’m wearing a dress.
Derek: Send me a picture.
Piper: It might be a little later. Let me find a mirror first.
Piper: Everyone is arriving. I’ll talk to you later.
Derek: Don’t forget the picture!

April 15th
Monday night, I receive a call from Derek.
“I’m in,” he says. “I’ll help you recruit, train, and strategize.”
