Piper: Can you tell me more about the case?

Derek: I told you everything I could.

Piper: Was that a job for the government?

Derek: You should go back to sleep.

Piper: Hayden will wake up in ten minutes. Why bother?

Derek: I take it you ended up staying at your brother’s place instead of your parents’?

Piper: Only Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The other four days I stay at home.

Derek: You have a place in Seattle?

Piper: Actually, it’s in Medina. My house is closer to my brother’s.

Derek: You own a place there but live here in New York?

Piper: It’s good to have a house where we can stay when we come and visit family. In that way, we don’t have to stay at anyone’s house and don’t hurt someone’s feelings. Arch’s mom can be sensitive about it.

Derek: Does your fiancé live there?

Piper: He’s out of the country, remember?

Derek: How can I forget? “He’s busy at the moment.”

Piper: You sound like my family.

Derek: They agree you’re in denial?

Piper: No, I’m not. It’s just…

Piper: It’s complicated.

Derek: Complicated is hurting you.

Piper: I just miss him, but he’ll be back.

Derek: If you ever want to talk about it, I’m here for you.

Piper: Thank you, D.

Derek: My first patient is here. Text me more pictures. It won’t hurt if you’re part of them.

Piper: TTYS

ChapterForty-Six

FinnG: I just emailed you the proposal for the Greek Gods book.

FinnG: Before you ask, I made sure it’s not like any book that has been written so far. I read part of the Percy Jackson series. It’s good. I’ll be watching the movie soon.

PCoop: You sent me pictures with your proposal. Are you in Greece?

FinnG: I am. My father is an archeologist. He’s teaching me all he knows about their history and the myths.

PCoop: What do you do for a living?
