“That bill will go straight into the trash.”

He couldn’t care less about the glass.

It’s more about his disdain toward little ole me.

I scrunch my face. “And by punishing, you mean?”

It’s pointless to ask the question since I already know the answer.

“After I’m finished dealing with you, I’ll put a bullet between his eyes.” He smirks as if it’s a reward.

Typical man in my world.

Has an attitude toward me for stabbing a man, yet no problem murdering that same man.

I slap my thigh—the dramatics as big as the creep from earlier. “It appears I’m done here, then.”

I struggle while walking toward the door. Even though I’d prefer to keep my distance from him, I have to pass him to leave. He doesn’t make my exit easy.

Shocker.

As I inch past him, he grabs a handful of my hair and tugs me backward.

I grind my teeth at the sudden twinge of pain.

“We’re not done until I say we’re done.” Turning his hand, he tightens his grip. “And we’re not finished until you promise to get the fuck out and never come back.”

I smack at his hand. He releases me, as if I were suddenly tainted, and I glare at him.

“I promise not to stab anyone else, my dear fiancé.” I spit out the last word like it’s poisonous.

He works his strong jaw. “I’d much rather put a bullet between my eyes than consider you my fiancé”

“I can do that for you, if you’d like?” The words come out before my brain processes what a bad idea they are.

He raises a brow. “Oh, really?”

“Really.” I gulp.

I threatened to kill Benny Marchetti.

My mother has always said my mouth will be the death of me.

She also says it’s why my father drinks heavily.

Benny laughs—it’s calculating and biting—and strolls to the desk.

This would be the perfect opportunity to escape, but I don’t try.

Shoot, I don’t even glance at the doorway.

Instead, I stupidly stare at Benny as he opens a drawer and pulls out a gun.

My pulse races.

Benny turns off the safety, points the gun in my direction, and makes atsksound while his finger plays with the trigger.

Andthis is opportunity number two when I should dash for the door.
