She laughed and cringed because that even hurt her chest and abs. Years ago, Raina would have never cracked a joke like that. It would have been Megan to do it. Cody sure was good for her friend.

Now she had to decide what she was going to tell Raina. She didn’t want to lie, but she wasn’t sure what her close friend would think about the fact that Megan had her eye on Raina’s older brother.

She settled for the truth. “I tried a new workout yesterday. It kicked my butt.”

“Those are the best and the worst,” Raina said. “Which is why I hardly ever work out. I get enough lecturing from Jonah on that. He said it keeps your mind sharp along with your body, but I don’t have time and his gym makes me nervous.”

“I’m sure he’d shadow you while you were there,” she said.

“After he announced to everyone who I was and to keep away,” Raina said, smiling. “Cody bought some equipment for our house and I think I’ll work out with him. Then I get to see him getting all hot and sweaty.”

Megan bit back the comment she’d like to say because she couldn’t very well say it about Raina’s brother when she wasn’t sure how Raina would take it.

It’d been a few weeks now and she was still nowhere close in her mind to what she wanted other than she’d like to know Jonah more. She was assuming he wanted the same thing since he was the one that brought up the one-on-one session.

Yet, just like after the wedding when he brought her home and left, he did the same in the parking lot last night. Walked her to her car, they had their moment of awkward silence, and went their own ways.

At least he’d gotten his hands on her a few times yesterday though. And the one where he helped to lift her up, she hadn’t needed it. She knew he knew that too. She was going to take that as his excuse to touch her and run with it.

“Now that you’ve got that big house, you guys can run around naked all the time you want. Maybe even work out that way.”

“I’ll take a hard pass on the naked workout,” Raina said. “The other has merit.”

She grinned when Raina walked away and started to go back to her office. Jade Fierce- James was coming down the hall and followed her into her office.

“I hear you might be playing with my father and uncle,” Jade said.

Megan frowned. “What?”

Jade turned and shut the door. “Kara told me that my father and uncle, my mother and aunt too, are getting their heads together. I’m assuming it’s you and Jonah that they are working on. I could see them talking to him more than normal at the wedding, then moving to you. They don’t realize everyone is onto them.”

“Your father is funny. He guessed I might have had my eye on Jonah.”

“Hard not to,” Jade said. “He’s by far the biggest in the room. I thought Brock had that covered, but Jonah has a different presence to him.”

“Oh, he does,” she said. “Nothing against your husband, but he’s taken.”

Jade laughed. “Yes, he is. Anyway, Kara and I were meeting on something else and my father came in and made a few comments about you. Then somehow Raina and her brothers came up. They aren’t nearly as clever as they think they are. You can trust Kara, I hope you know that.”

“I do. Absolutely.”

“She told me you commented about asking them for help. It will totally throw them off their game if you do that.”

“I’ll have to think about it,” she said.

“Are you worried about what Raina might think?” Jade asked.

“There is that concern.”

“It’s better to bring it up beforehand if you’re serious. But that is your choice. Guess you need to figure out where Jonah stands and if he’s interested.”

“He’s interested,” she said. “Just being stubborn is my guess.”

“Could be he is thinking about his sister too.”

“Most likely.”

“I’ve got no advice for you,” Jade said. “Other than be yourself. But, hey, maybe my father and uncle could help you. They seem to think they can.”
