Her jaw dropped, her face turned red, and then the laughter started. “Maybe my neighbors will be jealous of me now,” she said. “Of course if one of them saw you come in here, they already are.”

“Why is that?” he asked. He pulled her closer to his side and put his arm around her. He wasn’t one for making moves like that, but it felt right.

When she sighed and snuggled in closer he knew it was the perfect move to make.

“You know what you look like. Any woman would be jealous that didn’t have you on her couch. And if you want to know something funny, I wasn’t sure this couch was going to support what we were doing. I think some of the noises were the sofa screaming at us to stop.”

“I’m pretty sure you weren’t going to let me stop,” he said.

“Oh hell no,” she said. “Why do you think I pulled you up here before dinner?”

“To get it out of the way?” he asked.

“And now we are much more relaxed. But rather than go to dinner, what do you say we order pizza and stay in? I’m thinking I’m not quite as satisfied as I wanted to be.”

He was trying not to take insult to that but supposed he understood what she was saying because he knew he could go another round right now too.

“Only if it’s on your bed next time,” he said. “I’m not sure I can get my body into a pretzel again without it cramping up on the couch.”

“You’re pretty funny, Jonah.”

“Said no one ever,” he said.

“Then they didn’t get to see this side of you,” she said, her hand running down his face. He was touched by the move but kept his thoughts to himself.

They ordered pizza and wings, she got a salad to go with it too, then she pulled a beer out of the fridge for him and water for her.

“What’s on your mind?”

“I’m going to talk to Raina tomorrow about us. I don’t feel like I can wait much longer.”

“No one told you to wait this long,” he said.

“Why haven’t you said anything?”

He thought back to his conversation with Trent. “Because I’m family. She would never stay mad at me, not that I think she will be mad, but she might be if I said it and not you.”

“I figured as much,” she said.

“Trent knows.”

“Obviously,” she said. “He walked in and could put it together, I’m sure. Just by looking at us even though we weren’t doing much.”

“True,” he said. “He thinks I should be with you when you tell Raina.”

“Do you think you should be?”

“Do you want me to be?” he asked.

“Answer my question first,” she said.

He knew a trick question when he heard one. “If you want me there I’ll be there.”

“Which didn’t answer me,” she said.

“Fine. I think my sister would appreciate it more if you went alone. That if we showed up together it’d tell her right away what was going on and I get the feeling you might need to ease into it.”

“That is how I feel too. And the longer I wait to tell her, the more upset she might get. I think I can push it off as being we were testing the waters.”
