“Megan looks great,” Sarah said. “She’s not skinny. She’s got a lot of muscle on her. Mom, Megan eats plenty of food.”

“She almost out ate me and my brother at my parents’ house,” Jonah said.

Megan elbowed him. “No one can out eat you, but I did make a pig of myself. Mom, I’m hardly skinny. I’d like to think I was healthy.”

Tom snorted. “All I hear about is Megan and the muscles she’s got now. I told Emily to not even think about it.”

“I don’t need you to tell me what my body should look like,” Emily said.

“Tom, don’t be jealous that Megan has more muscle than you,” Bill said.

“Oh, Bill,” Sarah said. “Good one. I’m so proud of you for cracking a joke.”

He had to laugh over that. “Any time you want to come in, Tom, I’ll show you around. Everyone can benefit from some exercise.”

Megan’s brother-in-law shut up at that comment. Or maybe it was the glare in his eyes.

Jonah hated how Megan was right and she wasn’t even in the door two minutes before she was being attacked on something.

He’d just have to make it up to her later.

Asking About You

“Sounds like you had a lot of fun with Abby and Sophia on Friday,” Raina said to her at lunch. The two of them were eating in the cafeteria. They could buy food here, but most times they brought their lunch.

“I did. Sophia was so shocked I told her she had to come too, but she is always so worried that she is being excluded.”

“Like you felt by your sisters,” Raina said.

“I was excluded. I was just that much younger. But Sophia is only four years younger than Abby, not ten and twelve years like I was. The two of them had a good time laughing and giggling.”

“Did Abby ask you a bunch of questions about Jonah?” Raina asked.

“Always. I think she has a crush on him. She also made some comment about her father and things he’s said about Jonah.”

That pissed her off, but she wouldn’t show that reaction to Abby either. She tried to gloss over the fact that Tom was talking about her and her boyfriend when she wasn’t around.

Saying she was going to look like a man if she got too much muscle on her and that Jonah would be fat when he was fifty from all the steroids he’d taken to be his size.

That comment had made her see red. Jonah was one of the healthiest people she knew. There was no way he’d ever put chemicals in his body and the thought of that alone had her defending the man she loved.

Abby had laughed and said she’d told her father to cut it out and not be jealous. Guess Emily had said the same thing to her husband too.

She could only imagine what it was like in that household and was glad she didn’t have that relationship with Jonah.

“Don’t let it bother you,” Raina said. “He’s just jealous I’m sure.”

“I think so. Even Bill busted on him about being the only one not working out. Told him that I had more muscle on me and not to be jealous.”

Raina giggled. “Bill never says anything like that.”

“No, he doesn’t. Sarah praised him for it and it was cute to see Bill blush. My sisters and Bill look good. I know they aren’t dieting. But they are into the exercise and you can see it. Emily said she has cut back on the wine and that is probably why she’s lost more weight.”

“Did you know your sister drank that much?” Raina asked.

“I don’t know how much she drank. I get the feeling a glass a night and that isn’t the end of the world. If I had to live with Tom I might have a bottle a night.”
