I turned to the two men. They were leaning against the wall, hands in their pockets, grinning at me. I mouthed ‘thank you’ to them. They both gave me a nod as if this wasn’t a big deal.

“Tell her the best part.” The kid poked Dottie.

She ruffled his hair. She was so much better with children than me. “We get to stay.”

“Stay?” I scrunched up my face.

“Yea, stay. This is Tristan’s house. He has given us all rooms. You should see them. They are the size of your apartment. It’s so amazing. Sandy and I were gonna petition to stay with your sister and mom to take care of them while you were gone. Now, we don’t need to. How cool.” Felix bounced on his heels.

“Mom?” I didn’t see her. Not that I thought she could handle this much commotion.

“Didn’t do so well in the car. She’s sedated now,” Dottie said.

“So all four of you get to stay?” I asked. I needed all the facts before I got too happy.

They nodded.

I turned and ran at the two men. I jumped on Ethan first. He must not have expected me to do that because he stumbled back into the wall. He quickly righted himself and wrapped one arm around me. I could stay like this forever, but I knew people were watching. I wiggled out of his grasp and gave Tristan a quick hug.

“Thank you,” I whispered through tears.

“No problem, Peach,” Ethan replied.

“Thank Joseph too. My son couldn’t believe you were gonna come live here with us without your family.” Tristan pointed at his kid. When he looked at his son, he actually smiled.

I scooped up the kid and hugged him. Ugh, I forgot he was still wet from the pool. No matter, nothing could ruin this. I was with my family, and they had the money. Yeah, I could last five years.

CHAPTER9

Tristan (Day 1)

I pluckedJoseph from Ava’s arms. The kid was still soaked from the pool. Not that he cared.

“Thank you again.” Ava grabbed my hand and shook it. Her hands weren’t what I expected. They were soft, and her nails were pink. I expected them to be rough from the fighting and her nails to be broken.

I released her hand and shoved my hand back into my pocket. I made this arrangement for Ethan and Joseph, not for myself. There was no way I would be mesmerized by her skin.

Ethan had been so insistent on this, he said Joseph needed a mother figure, and he was right. Joseph was so excited when we told him we were buying Ava. He wanted to know everything about her. He was fascinated with having someone live with us. Joseph loved people, he got that from his mother.

“Now to business. Ava, Ethan, if you two will join me in my office.” I ruffled Joseph's hair. “Why don’t you show our new house guests around?”

Joseph grabbed Dottie’s hand and guided her along with the other two out of the room. I didn’t like the idea of Felix being here. When we sent for Dottie and her mother, she insisted Felix and his girlfriend Sandy come along as well. They weren’t blood-related, but according to Dottie, that didn't matter. She said if we wanted to make Ava happy, then they came too.

Once we were in my office, I took a seat at my desk. Ethan and Ava sat across from me. It was good to have separation from her. I didn’t need her peach-scented skin distracting me.

“I’m just gonna get to the point. We are going to need you to sign this contract.” I slid the paper across to her.

“Wow, that’s fast. I thought we had a whole week to exchange vows. This is so soo…” Ava inspected her nails as if that would help her think. “Well, not what I expected. What’s next, you guys bend me over the desk and take turns consummating the marriage?” Ava clamped her hand over her mouth as if she couldn’t believe what she said.

My dick twitched. I pushed aside thoughts of burying my dick inside her tight, wet pussy.Focus!

“No. This is something else. The auction has certain rules to follow, or they will kill you. I’m sure you got the rules and regulations.” I rifled through my desk for that. Maybe she hadn’t been given it.

“Kill?” She grabbed her throat. “Kill? It said nothing about killing.”

“It does here.” I pointed to the bottom of the page. “Up to and including termination.”

“Yeah, termination. Like fired from the marriage auction. Never to enter again.” She looked back and forth from Ethan to me. Her face dropped. “Mr. Miller, Mr. Moore, you guys have to do something. What if I mess up? What if the other guy is a recluse and I can’t get him to..ya know…consummate?”
