After some recon, I found out some things she liked. I had never tried to romance a girl. None of them stuck around long enough. Well, except Tasha, and she just wanted to fuck.

On my way to Ava’s room, I ran into Tristan. He saw me and hurried off his phone.

“Hey bro, everything good?” I asked. He had been acting strange since our meeting with Ava. I wasn’t sure if it was her or whatever text he got.

“Business stuff. How’d it go with Adam Gould?” He averted his eyes. Something was going on with him.

“He wouldn’t back down, so I hit him.” I shrugged.

“Don’t worry. It’ll work out.” He slapped my shoulder and kept walking.

I shook my head and headed to Ava’s room.

She laid on her stomach, swinging her legs back and forth. She was heavenly. I wanted to climb on the bed and claim her as my own. Would she allow it? At some point, she would have to let me, but I wanted her to want it. I wanted her to beg me to fuck her.

“Hey.” I knocked on her doorframe.

She jumped, spilling nail polish on the sheets.

“Get ready,” I demanded.

“For what?” She fumbled with the nail polish. “I’m so sorry about this.”

“Leave it. It’s a surprise.” I waved my hand in a come-on motion.

“I need to know what to wear, and I need to clean this up,” she huffed.

“You would look good in a garbage bag. Now leave the mess. CeCe will clean it.” I grabbed her hand.

CHAPTER11

Ava (Day 1)

Salt filled the air.Wind carried the mist off the ocean. A lighthouse shone in the distance, its beacon guiding ships home. Sand squished between my toes.

Ethan hadn’t let go of my hand since we left the house. It was as if he was afraid I would float away. I could have told him not to touch me, but I liked the way my hand fit into his.

I pulled his hand closer. The entire top was covered with a skull and snakes. It was what I imagined Medusa’s bones would look like. Each snake ran the length of his finger. A vision of him sliding one of those fingers inside me flashed in my mind. I quickly pushed the thought to the side.

“What did you hit?” I asked. All of his knuckles had been recently split open.

“A door.” He shrugged. “So why do you wear all pink?”

We walked along the shore, both of us left our shoes by a few chairs. Hopefully, we would be able to find them if it was dark before we got back. The tide was getting closer and closer to our feet.

“It makes my mom smile.” I kicked at some sand. “While dumpster diving one day I found a fluffy dull rose colored blanket. I cleaned it and wrapped her in it to keep her warm. It was the first time she smiled since my father died.”

“Color in a dark world. I like it.” He smiled at me.

“Why did you take me to the beach?” It was such a perfect first date. Could I even call it a date? We were to be married in a week. Was dating a thing?

“To be honest, I talked to your sister. She told me you like walking around the beach.” He bent down and picked up a seashell.

“But why take me?” I couldn’t help it. He had no reason to be nice to me, let alone romantic.

Brad would have never done something like that. He was only nice when there were witnesses. He always wanted people to know how great he treated me. I bit my lip, there was no reason to think about him.

“You are gonna be my wife. That doesn’t just mean I take care of you financially. I will take care of all your needs.” He turned to me and tilted my chin up to him.
