I’m lost in her—we’re lost in her. Except we’re so lost that neither Bishop nor I hear the cars outside. We don’t hear the footsteps either, until the police ram smashes the door off its hinges into the room.

Cora is screaming. Bishop and I yell and lunge out of the bed to protect her. But the cops tackle us to the ground, barking orders as they handcuff us both. I roar and look up to see a policewoman wrapping Cora in a bathrobe before she cuffs her too. They start to drag her out of the room.

“It’s gonna be okay!” I yell after her. Cora looks scared to death, but she manages to look back at us. When she does, she steels her jaw.

“It’s gonna be okay!” Bishop yells after her too. Suddenly, a man steps into the room.

Fuck. We both look up to see Chief Millbrook smiling thinly down at both of us.

“Oh it’s gonna be alright,” he growls. “Just not for you two, and definitely not for that bitch.”

We both snarl at him. But we’re instantly swarmed with cops who drag us from the room, still roaring for Cora.
