Heat flared in his eyes, and he immediately moved towards me. I smiled.Yes. I could easily become addicted to this new effect I was having on him. It made me want to do so many things to him. If only he wasn’t dressed in those thick joggers and a T-shirt… No, that wasn’t why I was here.

“Closer.” Crooking my finger at him, I held my hand up until he was right in front of me, his legs almost brushing against mine. “Stop.”

“Are…are you going to tell me what this is all about now?” Hesitance entered his gaze, and I knew he was remembering the way I’d fled from his room. His lips were slightly parted as he stared down at me. They were glistening from where he’d been chewing them a few moments ago, and I really, really wanted to kiss him.

Fuck it, plans could be modified. Reaching out, I pulled him down onto me. He made a startled sound, his arms flailing for a second, but then he got hold of the back of the chair, and then he was right where I wanted him. Straddling me, his gorgeous face just inches from mine, which meant… Cupping the back of his head, I pulled him into a slow, soft kiss, sliding my tongue gently against his, the press of his lips against mine an addictive touch that I couldn’t get enough of.

When I finally managed to disconnect our mouths after several minutes of slow, deep kisses, I rested my forehead against his, closing my eyes. I wrapped my arms lightly around his waist, and he removed his hands from the back of the chair, bringing them down to rest on my shoulders.

“I’m sorry I ran away,” I murmured. “It was…I needed a minute. But I need you to know that I don’t regret anything we did. The complete opposite, in fact.”

Elliot exhaled heavily, his warm breath hitting my lips. “Good. I thought—never mind. It doesn’t matter what I thought if you didn’t regret it.”

I opened my eyes and drew back my head a little so that I could focus on his face. My stomach flipped again as I took him in. Moistening my lips and clearing my throat, I shook my head. “Never. I want to ask you a question. Will you go out with me? On a date?”

His eyes grew wider than I’d ever seen them before. “Adate?”

“Yeah.” A smile spread across my face. Even though my heart was beating abnormally fast and my palms were a little sweaty, I injected as much confidence as I could into my voice, keeping my tone light. “We like each other. I think we’ve both proved that we’re sexually compatible tonight. So why don’t we try going on a date? It might be fun.”

Lowering his gaze, his lashes sweeping down, he sucked in a breath. “Um. You really think that’s a good idea?”

Yes, I really fucking did.

“Yeah. C’mon, what do we have to lose? One date. You can even pick the place.”

“Okay,” he said eventually. “One date. If you promise that it won’t affect anything between us.”

“I promise.” Angling my head forwards, I pressed a kiss to the tip of his nose. “It’ll be fun.”

Finally, his lips curved into a small smile. “It better be. You can choose the place.”

“Deal. Now, why don’t we kiss some more, then we both need to get that coursework finished for our marketing module.” Not that I wanted to do the coursework—I’d rather have been kissing Elliot all night, but sadly, our lecturers wouldn’t accept kissing as a valid excuse for handing it in late. Bastards.

“Coursework first, then kissing,” Elliot countered, his smile widening.

I sighed. “You drive a hard bargain, Mr. Clarke. One kiss, then coursework, then more kissing.”

He closed the final couple of centimetres between us, brushing his lips against mine. “Okay.”

“Iknow why you like marking Noah up now.”

“What?”

Shit. I turned my head to see Liam regarding me with raised brows. The words had slipped out without thought, and as soon as I’d said them, I knew they were a mistake because now Liam’s radar would be pinging. When I’d come downstairs this morning to grab some breakfast, I’d run into Elliot in the kitchen doorway, and my eyes had gone straight to the mark on his neck. I’d had such a sense of satisfaction from the sight, knowing that other people would see it and know that he was spoken for. Not that he was my boyfriend, but he was…no one else was getting near him if I had anything to do with it.

At least I was now next door at number 3, and Elliot was safely back at home in number 1, away from Liam. The last thing I wanted was questions from my nosy friend.

“Yeah. I was reading about how love bites are like a possessive thing. And you, mate, are possessive of Noah.”

Liam laughed. “I’m not that bad. I just like people knowing he’s mine.”

“Yeah. Hey, did you finish off that coursework for Bob’s class?” Hopefully, the distraction technique would work.

“Ugh,” he groaned. “Submitted it two minutes before the deadline. Who sets coursework that’s due the day after KED? Everyone knows we’re gonna be getting hammered on KED. It’s tradition.”

“Hungover, are you?” I grinned at him, noting the green tinge of his skin. I hadn’t even had a hangover, thanks to leaving the party early to go after Elliot. And that had turned out better than I could’ve ever imagined.
